Poetry just bugs me. Probably because it was forced down my throat at school. I’m instantly resistant to anything forced upon me or I am meant to like

Tune In vol. 1 of the extended edition, page 304, 2nd paragraph has this sentence: “It’s not hard to imagine this current Cavern job coming up in conversation at the Harris home (147 Dinas Lane, Huyton) when it paid host to Jim, Paul, and Mike McCaetney during their first Christmas without Mary.”Is “paid host” correct? Shouldn’t it be “played host”?
“Paid host” in this context is a term i’ve heard be used in the UK so the book can be deemed to be correct. Not sure if its great grammar tho.

Reminds me of the story that Paul tells about the Beatles sandwich (them taking turns lying on top of one another to keep warm) in the back of a van while Mal drove after the windscreen was knocked out. I’ve always wondered how Mal kept warm during that drive.
