I don’t know about everyone but I know my day is alright.

My day was normal, nothing interesting. Just another day at school, avoiding locker breaks, and being horrible at indoor soccer during gym.

Mr. Kite, story horse?

I was going to post this in the ‘Ask your fellow BBers thread thingy’ but there’s a nice conversation going on and I don’t want to derail it, so here it is.

There is a poll on Buzzfeed (I know, I know) asking ‘what is this yoke called?’- apparently my given-answer* is worth less than a percent in the popularity stakes.

So what’s this thing on your hand called?

I’m the 7% that calls it an elastic. But a question I’ve always had, why does everyone call them these different things? It has always boggled my mind on how many different things they’re called

it would be interesting to see the answers broken down by age and geographical region.

ASJ, I’ve always known a bobbin to be a piece for a sewing machine.

As for as I know of the majority of my friends call it a bobbin- it doesn’t appear to be recognised on the internet or in my physical English dictionary so I’m not quite sure where it came from. In Irish it’s phonetically called a tay-tay (maybe the Irish spelling is teighteigh? I have never seen it written down and I’m not even sure if it is considered a “real-word” in the dictionary sense) literally a “gogo” which is the least popular answer in the above poll ^

I took this quiz and voted “hairtie.” As someone who used to have long hair, that’s what I always called it. Maybe I just called it that because it seems the most masculine name out of those choices. I don’t know.

What I don’t get is why “scrunchie” was a choice. I always considered “scrunchie” to be something separate from that. I always thought that a “scrunchie” was specifically one of these things:

Maybe it’s a regional thing. I don’t know.

I'm Necko.  I'm like Ringo except I wear necklaces.

I'm also ewe2 on weekends.

Most likely to post things that make you go hmm... 2015, 2016, 2017.

I call it an elastic which was quite common IN MAH DAY to call such things when I still had hair long enough to need it. (But we called the thick ones scrunchies. Fun fact: they’re great for emergency bass guitar capos).

Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe.  This has been true for 2016 & 2017 Sig-Badge.png but I may have to get more specific in the future.

Really? Hmmm. Well, I suppose you wouldn’t know how disorganised I am in real life… my Forum-self is fairly neat, being a grammar-Nasty and all. I’ve often thought myself a very self-contradictory character. My brain is extremely well organised, in a way… my life is another story. ahdn_paul_01

I’ve been good! Busy, but good. My hair is long enough to answer the question above: I call it a hair thingy. a-hard-days-night-george-10

Been writing a lot of music lately, working on lyrics but they don’t come easy. Working at the record shop still, got to see the new Paul rereleases before they were technically released which I find cool as a Beatlemaniac.

Been listening to lots of different music lately. Found at least one post-2000 rock band I enjoy, which I had previously thought was impossible. This one girl with really eclectic musical tastes (yes, she likes The Beatles) introduced me to them and some other stuff I’m not sure about yet. She may be a story later, but for now I have no news there.

Moral of the story: Life is good.
