I’m just really happy of this weather, for once. I better make sure the nice weather doesn’t go by too quickly, or else I will be in Misery !paul-mccartneya-hard-days-night-george-10

We paid almost $200 for a DVD a faculty member needs for a class this fall. You’d think the company could send it to us in a case that wasn’t broken. It’s just a piece missing off the bottom edge, but still. I’m glad we have some new cases on hand.

Couldn’t you get it cheaper? $200 for a DVD is more than a bit pricey. Or was it from one of those sellers who ebay who flogs stuff for ridiculous amounts – $847 for an out of print 1993 ‘Band On The Run ‘ cd.

The only way to get this particular DVD is to go through the son of the man who created this method of teaching the playing of string instruments.

Teach the students a different way, they’ll never know the difference.

Educational materials often have a high price point because of their limited, and captive, audience. Look at the prices on approved textbooks etc.

@Starr Shine? if you want to break the mould, it’s 3am on the 18th!

Any Frank Sinatra fans out there? Later this year (December 12) will be the 100th anniversary of his birth.

A New York Yankees tradition is to play his song ‘New York, New York’ after every home game victory. To honor “Old Blue Eyes”, they had “Frank Sinatra Night” last night at Yankee Stadium. They had a few promotions going on for the fans, but the coolest thing they did was have Frank Sinatra, Jr. sing the National Anthem before the game. When I saw the video, I was stuck by how much he looks and sounds like his father.

The Yankees won, which means a Sinatra opened and closed the game. As a Yankees fan who enjoys “The Chairman Of The Board”, it was very cool for me.

To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

I’m not a fan per se in that I have knowledge of his repertoire & oeuvre — I’ve only taken the trouble to listen to maybe five songs, and I’ve never owned an album of his — but I do appreciate his mystique, and I found him riveting as an entertainer and as a persona, and quite cool whenever he appeared on talk shows or variety shows.  Part of my relative lack of interest is that I’m not wowed by his voice, though I do like a certain indefinable quality to his style.  I much prefer the voice of Dean Martin, and with him I have delved into dozens of his songs over the years to better educate myself.

I read a review of a supposedly “tell all” book written by Frank’s last wife, Barbara, and a couple of details she claims as facts struck me as odd & amusing:  Frank was obsessed with taking showers, and he liked to smell like lavender all the time (apparently he had lavender scent or cologne or something).  Also, his favorite color was orange.  Imagine Old Blue Eyes wearing a vivid orange cardigan sweater and a blue tie to match his eyes!

A ginger sling with a pineapple heart,

a coffee dessert, yes you know it's good news...

Frank Sinatra would be one hundred if he were alive today.  Wow.

You know who else would be one hundred if still alive?  Willie Dixon.  I heard that on the radio a couple weeks ago.

IT RAINED!!!!!!!!!!!! beatlemaniacs_02_gif

The mail service was a little slow… and there wasn’t much left… but ASJ’s cloud finally arrived.

And then I played Good Day Sunshine . I appreciate the irony.

Amazing coincidence isnt it that the product the individual is told by an expert to use/switch to in an advert is the one they are promoting. Whatever next!! Who falls for such nonsense.

a-hard-days-night-ringo-8 I list their names as John, Paul, George, and Ringo. It makes no sense why the heck it would matter how their names are listed. Honestly, if they have their names just in the article, I’m fine.
