You’ve set fire to your Stars and Stripes hat! Isn’t that a bit like burning the flag?

Freudian typo?
It’s an intentional Lennonism.

We aren’t all fiendish thingies/Georgettes. Some of us are staunch Paulettes.
At noon today it was sunny and 94F/34C. Now it is 3:38/15:38 and 82F/28C with clouds and rain. Much nicer.

I dont know if folk have or not but the advice coming from the egg-heads is if you use iTunes as your music library do not update to the latest version, 12.2, as it can turn it into chaos. Macworld article for further reading if you so wish to do so.

My music collection is only about 5,000 songs……I have some old playlists and about 1000 songs on my original iPod that I don’t let near a computer as from other iPod updates I know they will disappear. That iPod had not been updated for well over 10 years…….The others suffer successive ‘upgrades’. I’m not a neat collector and filer of my music but thanks for the warning……..It may be too late as i recently swopped to Yossee-mite.
I’ll go and check.
Cheers

It was ripped so I burnt it in the proper way to burn flags.

There’s a longish document on how to respectfully treat the Stars and Stripes……..
It’s pretty straightforward, though, and can be reduced to a few bullet points.
1. Don’t fly the flag upside-down, except as a distress signal.
2. The flag should not be used as drapery (ex. covering a desk)
3. The flag should not be used for advertising.
4. The flag should not touch the ground.
5. The flag should not be used as/in clothing or uniforms (exceptions exist, such as flag patches being on military of firefighter uniforms)
6. When the flag is in poor condition unbefitting of display (i.e. it’s old and worn), it should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.
I’ve skipped over some of the ones that were similar to the others (although I suppose the drapery and clothing ones are similar).
Of course, all of these things are guidelines and not law. In fact, there was no official flag respect code until the 1920’s.
(Can you tell that this stuff was drilled into my head in school?)

What about blowing your nose on it if you cant find a tissue?
I think that falls under this one:
(h) The flag should never be used as a receptacle for receiving, holding, carrying, or delivering anything.

Independence Day weekend, and the USA win the Women’s Football (Soccer) World Cup against Japan 5-2.
The third time they have won, and a well-deserved victory. They slaughtered Japan. They were 4-0 up within about the first twenty minutes.
Had we (England) not had our fluke loss against Japan, and been facing the USA team tonight, I doubt we could have beaten them.
A well-deserved victory.
Also, congratulations to the England team on a well-deserved third place. The best we have ever done in the competition, and the best placing for an England team since the men won the competition in 1966.

We once felt flags were very important……..Here’s Eddie to explain it……..
You’ve always felt your flag important and it is. In fact next to mine it’s the best……..Glad you’ve calmed it down a bit though.

I use the Scottish flag as i am Scottish but i dont carry it on my being. I have collection strategically placed the whole of Scotland, all within easy reach.
How can you tell if the Scottish flag is being used as a distress signal? It looks the same upside-down as it does right side up. Was it designed that way because Scotland is never in distress?

We don’t own any Irish flag in our house nor our county flag- whoopsadaisy.
You’re only allow to drape our tricolour over a coffin and the green part of the flag should be at the head of the coffin and you are not allowed to have the flag in a church, it can only be placed on the coffin once outside church ground- but only Republicans do it anyways so meh.
Ours is quite a pretty little thing (the Ivory Coast thought so too), although nobody really knows the origins of the colours. There’s various theories but I like this one:
Green= Catholics
White= Peace
Orange= Protestants
So peace and love for everyone!
