Okay, this will be a long diatribe. Okay, the show Glee is the topic. Is it just me, or to they cover all the good songs? Bohemian Rhapsody, Good Vibrations, Sweet Caroline, U2, Bruce Springsteen, Piano Man, everything else for that matter? I sorta feel if Glee didn't butcher these songs, Classic Rock would be much more popular. Just looking at the list made my stomach turn. That list made me turn to Youtube and save my stomach with Billy Joel, and Neil Diamond. I hate Glee.
I think the covers are okay, but like MND said, they do lead people to the real songs and artists. I found some great classics because of Glee.
(I've got blisters on me fingers!)

I caught word that the prisoners somewhere around here are using jolly Ranchers to shank each other. The suck on them until they are super sharp and stab each other in the juglar.
Wait …what?!

Ooh! Who's writing it? What's their perspective going to be?
When the heck is that Martin Scorsese film coming out anyways?

The book is called Working Class Mystic, A Spiritual Biography of George Harrison . It's being published in November to coincide with the 10th anniversary of his death. The author is Gary Tillery, who previously wrote a biography of John Lennon (it gets good reviews on Amazon). The subject seems well suited to George.
I haven't started reading it yet, but will do soon. It's a raw manuscript with no cover artwork, just a loose-leaf printout. The PR company behind it seem to be very good, so expect to hear a lot more in the coming months (I've seen their marketing campaign).

This was discussed elsewhere, but tomorrow is Nation Record Store Day. So, here is the link to see what goodies are being dangled in our faces (yes, most are vinyl. I like the Petty albums.)

I wish some of my local record stores carried something cool. I hit all of them up for old funk 45's and consistently am disappointed, plus they charge so much for vinyl in the first place that it's a rip off to spend that much on what is essentially a novelty item. I don't mean the music is a novelty item, I'm just saying if you can get it cheaper somewhere else and in a portable format, choosing to buy vinyl would make it a novelty item.

I'm so excited! In a half hour, I'm going to a restaurant and they're having a Beatles weekend! There's a singing competition, and a cover band called Marmalade Skies is playing both Beatles and solo songs. The food and drinks are named after Beatles songs, too. I'll post about either tomorrow or when I get home.
