For the quiz I got
You got: ’70s Rock
Rock music in the ’70s was huge and wildly ambitious, from the majestic riffs of Led Zeppelin and the theatrical art rock of David Bowie to the ornate pop of Electric Light Orchestra and the elaborate soundscapes of Pink Floyd. This is the time when the idea of the “rock star” really takes shape, as pretty much everyone involved in the rock scene was basically an out of control hedonist.

I did this quiz to find out what music era I belonged in, while my ideal would obviously be 60’s rock (if I could go back in time I’d go to London ’65-’67 and have a cool job like a model or something and I’d get to go to all the savage parties that would have being going on, not to mention the great music.)
I got ’60s Rock! Yay!
I did not expect that.

I got: ’90s Rap. I have to say that I don’t know if that survey is scientifically valid. It has the feel of random selection to me.
EDIT: I am so not 90s Rap.

Matt Busby, BeatlebugI say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

I win!
Rock in the ’60s was a constantly evolving thing, with wildly inventive artists like The Beatles, The Beach Boys , The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, and The Who basically making up rock culture as they went along. This is an extremely earnest and progressive period too, with most of the counterculture defined by hippie ideals.

We seem to have lots of new members on this April 1st: Von Penguin, Von Kite, Von_Better, Von Zig. Which mod approved all the first posts from all the new people?
We will keep an eye on that non-vonbontee account and see if a real face appears in place of the apple. I don’t know if the forum could withstand such a shock!
The last time we had something similar (remember the “not” accounts with the pictures done in negatives) it wasn’t pretty.

The shot and medicine the doctor gave me on Friday didn’t clear up the congestion so I went back to the clinic yesterday. The doctor I saw yesterday was surprised to see what Friday’s doctor had given me.
He gave me a more potent shot. I’m staying home today to rest. I WILL get well!

I made this post in the Song Trivia thread because of coming across this news story.
A political blogger in Florida used the phrase “Coming to take you away” when criticizing a tax cut proposal by the state’s governor. Someone sent the Florida Department of Law Enforcement an anonymous tip that the blogger was threatening the governor with those words.
Here’s the official announcement from the FDLE
On March 27, an FDLE analyst from our Ft. Myers Region came across the blog post, “Coming to take you away, take you away… #RickScott.”
The analyst passed the information on to her supervisor who forwarded it to FDLE’s Miami Region. The Miami Region asked an FDLE Special Agent to speak with Mr. Tilson to determine whether the post was merely referencing a song or something more. Following their conversation, the mater was closed.
FDLE Agents will always err on the side of caution when judging the context of a blog, email, or other posting. However, Commissioner Swearingen is reviewing the incident and believes FDLE could have better evaluated the post and is speaking to all regions to ensure better coordination in the future.
I kept sing the “waiting to take you away” line from Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds , but the article kept mentioning Magical Mystery Tour . Duh, that line is in both. Just hadn’t thought about it before.
