These thoughts hit me while listening to one of @Into the Sky with Diamonds’s recent radio show episodes.

1. If there were a song telling the story of She’s Leaving Home from the perspective of the young woman who is leaving, what would it sound like? Would it be upbeat? Would it be heart-pounding?

The song as it is, from the parent’s point of view, is very melancholy.

To me, the song was not necessarily from the parent’s point of view – it was from both points of view told by an outside observer. Change a few pronouns/names around and it could have come solely from the young woman.

– Dad will snore as mummy gets into her dressing gown…
– I (here’s what they did that was wrong) am leaving… or I ([parents in background] we didn’t know it was wrong) am leaving…

And so forth.

I get where you are coming from. The whole song does sound somber/sad though. I wonder if the re-worked song would be faster, brighter, harder-hitting, or more throbbing. Was she sure of her decision to leave or did she have second thoughts all the way? She is clutching a handkerchief. Maybe that indicates that she wasn’t totally at piece with her decision at first. But then the song goes on to say she is having fun, so maybe the tempo would increase as the song goes along.?.?

It’s fun to think about.

I wish the ‘Currently Online’ feature had an asleep/awake indicator.

I don’t want to wake up @HongKongLady if she is asleep as it’s a crazy time there just now (says the guy posting at 4.05am).

Talking to myself again – I’ll claim it’s sleep deprivation :)

Luckily HKL posted elsewhere on this board just as I hit “Submit Reply” so I knew she was awake and we were able to have a nice chat before we ‘re-slept’.

Who knew the BB could be so useful?

I think it’s a subtle form of psychological warfare, we are all too scared to disagree with one of his posts in case he gives us that stare again :)

My understanding is that its like money but not and it you have it you are rich but not in real money but it can be used as money in some places so you are there. I’ve never paid much attention to it.

On another much more tedious and pointless matter for some reason my mobile clucks like a chicken before mooing like a cow when the battery needs charged.

Clucking and mooing phones now? I’d prefer a moo to the loud obnoxious screams my phone produces when it wan’t to be charged (Samsung S3 mini), which is at least twice a day now. I think my battery is wearing out.  I’d replace the battery but with my contract nearly up, I might as well get something a bit newer. (Another Samsung. I like them now.)

I wish my phone made any sound when it needed recharging. I’d even settle for some yoko-ono_01.

Looking down and seeing a dead phone is frustrating.

Not what I came to post but… I believe a strong man is never afraid to show his emotions, including crying. A weak man hides how he feels from all around him.

Anyway, what I came say…

Where’s that ‘things not to do when you’re so utterly bored’ thread as i’m currently thinking of licking switched on plug sockets to see what they taste like.

I’ve been one of those hold-outs for not getting a debit card. I like my ATM-only card just fine, thank you.

My bank called today to tell me that all their ATM-only cards are going away. I’ll be getting a debit card that can be used in ATM machines. At least the lady checked the option for me to have the lowest limit for point-of-sale transactions possible.

I figured the days of ATM-only cards were growing short, but that doesn’t mean I have to be happy about their demise.
