In ancient times…
Hundreds of years before the dawn of history
Lived a strange race of people… the DruidsNo one knows who they were or what they were doing
But their legacy remains
Hewn into the living rock… Of StonehengeStonehenge! Where the demons dwell
Where the banshees live and they do live well
Stonehenge! Where a man’s a man
And the children dance to the Pipes of Pan
haha – we Welsh know a LOT about druids. I am from Anglesey which was their last stronghold against the Roman invasion. The place reeks of history and has a lot of burial mounds from that time and earlier.

I’d like to make it to the UK one of these days, I had the chance some years ago and muffed it. My lot are from southern Scotland though and Ireland, so I’d be going there for my history fix.
I'm like Necko only I'm a bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin and also everyone. Or is everyone me? Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 but I may have to get more specific in the future.

Why do people have to keep the end of the world theories going? There have been too many lately, Y2K in 2000, whatever was supposed to happen in 2012, and now an asteroid? They should wait a decade or two, think of a really good one, then come and bother us again.

And those on the east coast (no one in mind ) will most certainly perish!

According to the article, the people most at risk are Puerto Ricans. Make sure that everyone near the area evacuate to some underground shelter far away from Pueto Rico.

Darn! Another Doomsday to survive! I wonder how many that’ll make it that I’ve somehow managed to make it through? A good half-dozen at least, I think…

How do the ‘elite’ ensure they survive an earth-shattering catastrophe that wipes out the rest of humanity? Is there some clothing they wear that protects them from a 34,000lb rock squishing them? Does the meteor recognise them and swiftly veers out of the way? How do you ensure you are part of the ‘elite’ in the first place, would be pretty embarrassing if wrong (tho i suppose they’d be dead so it wouldnt matter).

Should I change my plane ticket and visit England, Wales, and Scotland in September? RN, do you have a spare room I could hunker down in? Or, I could hide under the desk you just built, mmm. Perhaps Joe would let me sleep on the floor in Rosie’s room.

Thanks for the comments on Stonehenge. I’m contemplating whether to take a tour that allows you to go past the ropes and right up to the stones or going alone via train but without the special access. For those who have been, what do you suggest? How far away from the stones are you when you are outside the ropes?

If it is like the dinosaur meteor, they can chill under ground for a while then come up a few years later. They might move to an area far away from the area of impact.

Maybe we are gonna fire our nukes at the asteroid/meteor and blow it up. Though if the asteroid is coming, we should be able to see it a while in advance with the naked eye during the day time.

Wow @Ahhh Girl – I didn’t know you could still get close – those elites not only get the asteroid proof jackets they get to go close to the stones as well?
I’m lucky that years ago you could just wander over as close as you liked, though the ropes were up last time I visited.
The view is just fine from outside the ropes, though there is something special in being able to touch a monolith – but remember I am a big 2001 fan
The main factor for me would be the getting there. From memory the closest train is around 10 miles away and taxis in the UK are none too cheap and none too common outside the major metro areas. From that perspective a tour would seem the way to go, depending on the cost and your budget.

I think it’s worth it to pay to get close. I went when I was a teen with a group, and I was pretty disappointed by how far we had to stand.

The convience factor is playing into my decision-making process. The tour also takes you to Bath for a few hours before going to Stonehenge.
However, I’m struggling with my inner, very independent traveller mode. I would like more time in Bath than they allow. I don’t like someone putting me on a schedule (yes, kiddie temper-tantrum in progress). I suppose I could see if the tour company would allow me join the tour in Bath. That way I could go as early as I like by train to Bath and go at my own pace there AND get the special Stonehenge access. It won’t hurt to ask. Then I could ride back into London with them. I guess it wouldn’t hurt to inquire.

Sounds like a plan. I would be surprised if they said no. On our tour of Europe we picked a few folks up on the way through France. It would be nice if you could see a bit of Bath on your own then pick up the tour to see the tourist spots then head for the henge.
