I was thinking of Rose finding love in a new land, the lawsuits against the company, and the conspiracy theories that people came up with to explain the sinking of the unsinkable. Surely those 3 themes could be woven together by a Hollywood script writer.

There have been a LOT of conspiracy theories. I read one book suggesting that Titanic was swapped with its older sister ship while in dry dock – I can’t recall the rest of it as the rationale was just so bizarre.

When I run project management workshops I also use the Titanic as an example of a project where many of the planning elements that went wrong contributed to the disaster.

I have just read this entire thread from 1 to 542! I have found out so many things about the users here! Some things they might of wanted buried. I also started to archive the thread at around 100 something so most of the thread had been archived in the way back machine.

Our first Asian Cup in the bag after a thrilling 2-1 extra time win over South Korea. That was not good for the nerves but a super game.

Titanic II: Unsinkabler

I read one book suggesting that Titanic was swapped with its older sister ship while in dry dock –

*Deep movie trailer guy type voice*

In a world where icebergs are allowed to float about freely, allowed to be a general nuisance to passing ships, one vessel decides the cold b******s have gone too far.

Clip: “Oh my God …They killed my sister…You b******s!”

Wracked with guilt over his older sister’s death, Titanic struggles with his emotions, knowing it should have been him instead.

Clip: “I can’t handle the truth!”

Having built up his courage, he sets sail for the menacing monstrosity.

Clip: “I love the smell of ice melt in the morning…Smells like victory.”

After a long, arduous journey he comes face to face with his nemesis.

Clip: “Hello. My name is Titanic. You killed my sister. Prepare to die.”

What happens next will blow your mind. In his first movie role, The Mauretania delivers a must-see performance. Titanic II: Unsinkabler; also starring Leif Russelling, Anita Newman and Mimsy the Wonder Llama.

Titanic II: Unsinkabler  – playing now in a theater near you.

Clip: “Have fun storming the iceberg!”

Happy Imbolc @Oudis :)

With regards to Titanic (the film): Rose always annoyed me, being so selfish on the door.

HE SAID “NEVER LET GO” ROSE.

Yeah that bit slightly bothers me…

Titanic III: Sink Even More Harderer. @trcanberra I read a book about the ship swap conspiracy, it had two authors, one the conspiracy theorist, the other a rather more respected naval historian (The Riddle of the Titanic, Gardiner, Van Der Vat). The historian made it clear he wasn’t agreeing with it from the start, but he was interested in the many odd questions surrounding the sinking. The rationale was that White Star was in financial trouble and needed an insurance job because the sister ship Olympia had been badly damaged. The idea was to have the ship sink where the passengers could be rescued too bad so sad and off to the bank laughing but the captain was a careless hothead (and he did have form for this) and accidentally rammed an iceberg instead. All pretty flimsy indeed, but the ships were very similar and they were side by side in dock before Titanic left for its maiden voyage, and there were a few more suggestive parts to it. The interesting part of the book for me was the examination of the trials on both sides of the Atlantic and the many unanswered questions they raised. Gardiner went on to expand his theory in another book and it was pretty much shot down by everyone.

We might not want to know what she is wearing that is purple. Does it match the teddy bear?

We owed Uncle Sam $177 last year. This year, he is only asking for $74. How nice of him. Now I wonder how much the State of Oklahoma is going to ask from us.
