Is air-conditioning in houses not standard down under?

Yikes! I need to make 10 more posts quickly. Reminds me of a song though…Run Devil Run .

No – not standard. Same for heating. And I can’t afford the bills to run either for too long just now – energy costs have gone insane down here the last few years.

Don’t get air conditioning in the UK, tho might be as it doesnt get hot enough that often to need it.

Just for info – the login issue I have been having sporadically means that it can be hard to track conversations; the ‘topics with unread posts’ box is glitchy when I have this issue. So if you make a post in response to something crazy I have said and I don’t reply – the most likely reason is that the login issue means I didn’t see there was an update to the thread.

I said this in the technical part of the forums as well but most folks will likely not have seen it there.

I should point out that I literally live in a caravan and it doesn’t have air-conditioning (and the rates for electricity in caravan parks here are worse than for actual houses so even running a fan will add $$ to the fortnightly bill – yes I pay my electricity fortnightly), and this is entirely my choice; there’s just two extremes in the year where it’s not amazing fun weather-wise and you quickly forget how bad it is every year!

Autumn and spring are great though, the nights are a bit chilly.

I’ll second that. Those seasons are all that kept me here in Canberra for so long – just glorious.

I spent the weekend prior to Anzac Day in Canberra some years ago and was quite horrified at how the condensation froze on the car at 8pm at night. Suddenly I understood central heating in Canberra homes.

The teachers are on strike yet again so I had no school today. I spent all of it studying and then I read a bit of Dickins before deciding to abandon him for a month or two. I’m in a fed up mood and I don’t really want to be on the internet but I’ve got nothing else to do so I decided I’ll look through the DVD collection so I could watch something entertaining but not thought provoking but my Gossip Girl Season 1 DVD has gone missing paul-mccartney

I imagine my brother threw it out to make room for his shitty films* (ones with continuous explosions) he threw out our Give Up Yer Aul Sins video and The Fox and the Hound before as well a-hard-days-night-paul-3

*Yes I realize the irony but GG was a shitty TV series so meh (that and I was 12 when I bought it, don’t judge me!a-hard-days-night-paul-7)

What the Dickens?

I have almost all of his works and am about 2/3 of the way through.

His ghost stories, the majority of them are based around Christmas. I had a mental block, my brain refused  to let me read it and everytime I looked at the bloody thing I got a headache.

However, I’m doing a reread of ‘One Day’ by David Nicholls which is a funny relatively lighthearted story that I really love so I’ve put  Kafka’s* short stories and Dickins down for a bit.

*I love Kafka, he is possibly my favourite author now- I’ve read some of his short stories including The Metamorphosis.

In other good news: I finally got my first ever A2 in a poetry answer- God bless you Robert Frost! I also got an A2 in an Othello question and a B1 in my essay…*boast, boast boast*. I’m so happy :D

ahdn_paul_06 Yes I know that but I am wondering why it is not pinned anymore. Last year it was pinned the whole year.

Didnt know it had been unpinned. Dont really see the point of unpinning it as we would only have to go looking for it at the end of the year.

The thread was also seen unpinned yesterday at 6:15 GMT. The thread has been unpinned since at least yesterday. I remember seeing it pinned at the begginig of January so their is potentially a 2 week span of time that the thread could of been unpinned. Any one else have any evidence on when this unpinning could of happened.

All of the mods have been online in the last two weeks.

While watching TV this morning, I saw an ad for a show coming to nearby Easton, PA that made me think of @trcanberra and @Ahhh Girl.

The Australian Bee Gees Show

AG, there is one show in your state and a few more in surrounding states.
