Wait , there’s more than one way to pronounce apricot? I had no idea.
A (to rhyme with way) – pri (as in prick, not pree) – cot (just cot). Apricot. Now I’m filled with self doubt.
That’s how I say it. But lots of people say ah-pri-cot.

See, my pri is pronounced pree – but then I am Welsh and we pronounce things rather oddly at times.
I’m English but have lived in Wales half my life. I’ve never known it pronounced another way. I’ll have to ask people at my work, most of whom are Welsh speakers.

In the Midwest (US), it is eh (as in meh) pri (as in prick, as so elegantly intoned by @Joe) cot. But then, we are congenitally unable to pronounce rural. Some desperate speakers have been known to resort to ‘ex-urban.’
I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

Two mildly interesting and completely unrelated thoughts:
1) I just found out my mother used to live at 909 Pepper Ave, someplace, somewhere.
What a cool Beatley address!
2) I’ve been thinking about how cool a BB holiday gift exchange/secret Santa/whatever would be. (Yes me, Mr. Censored Kite!) Although it probably won’t happen it seems like a cool idea.

Who could be a better secret Santa (or secret anything, for that matter), than Mr. K?

I think generally in the US, the only place where you do that is at work. Usually I just say “Hello.”
parlance
A friend of mine answers by saying, “speak”.
One time a friend called me, I answered with “speak. Speak quickly. Hurry up.” When I realized he was calling to wish me a happy birthday, I was a little less snippy.

'When the fall's all that's left, it matters a great deal.

She’s not a big Beatle fan like I am so didn’t even realize it was Beatley relevant!
(Does anyone use that smiley?)
I’ve read that thread before… It seems interesting…

Haha – south or north? It matters. Plus I have been in Oz so long that may have been an influence.

Ooooo, he could co-opt @Oudis’s name. Perhaps Oudis would even join him in that band.
I’m still trying to figure out what his name means! I think I’m pronouncing it right (in my head) though: wee-dis.
Actually @Mr. Kite, if you read my post in the about-my-name thread (here) you will know why I chose it and what it means. And (read the story first) Odysseus was making a pun on his own name, so I’ve always thought “Oudis” should be pronounced as similarly as possible to “Odysseus”: maybe “Oh-you-dis” or “Oe-dis” (“oe” as in Moe -Larry and Curly). It’s a pity I speak no Greek (I wish I did).
“Forsan et haec olim meminisse juvabit” (“Perhaps one day it will be a pleasure to look back on even this”; Virgil, The Aeneid, Book 1, line 203, where Aeneas says this to his men after the shipwreck that put them on the shores of Africa)

Strange. According to the Currently Online bit at the bottom of the page, it seems members currently online are:Egroege Evoli, Egroege Evoli, Egroege Evoli, Egroege Evoli, Egroege Evoli, mja6758, LongHairedLady!
How does that work?
But now there isn’t even one Egroege Evoli online.
That would be crazy if there was five of any user online

I’m from Lawn Guyland, and I hear everyone talking about the caw-fee they drink too. Of course, I will deny having an accent just like everybody else on the island.
Too funny. Everyone I know/knew from there pronounces it that way. Heavy emphasis on the “G”.

Sometimes the ads are right on.I think its to do with cookies or whatever the jargon is whereby the ads we receive is based on the websites or content we surf often. That’s why every third/fourth site that I visit has something Beatley.
I think that’s what it is, but that makes me question some of the ads that pop up!

What in the world did I search for that made it give me an ad for a hearing aid?
