This will go over many folk’s heads on here but for those growing up in the 90’s in the UK the Chuckle Brothers are legends.

Congratulations on your first car @AppleScruffJunior. What kind of driver are you (aside from the obvious answer of ‘excellent’)?

Apart from excellent- I’m the “the passengers are screaming at the top of their lungs at the fear of me driving into a quarry” (almost happened to my mam once- interesting fact: my mother, my brothers and I would have been extremely lucky if we didn’t die) driver. I have only driven on bog roads and fields before- in an old friend’s banger- great craic.

I’m not actually “legally” able to drive because I’m not 17 yet (although I have the legal right to drive a motorbike and a tractor which I remember posting before). I haven’t even passed my theory test which I hope to do this summer after my exams.

When I do have to drive on public roads, I probably will somehow manage to drive myself off a cliff (I am nowhere near the sea) and ye’ll never see me again but yeah all that asides I’m a brilliant driver! I’m have to wear ‘L’ plates and ‘N’ plates (for Learner and Novice, respectively) for 2 years though blah!

I haven’t actually seen ‘the car’ yet because it’s across the road and I’m far too lazy to walk over to it- I just hope  there’s a working CD player. My brother’s Citroen doesn’t work so I have to listen to the terrible iRadio all the time I’m with him.

Perhaps you have a friend with a car who could give you a lift to go and see it?

Is that how it is nowadays, 2 years of plates? Horrible things they are.

My mother once drove into a ditch which was running alongside the straight road whilst going at about 15 mph, to this day i have no idea how she managed it.

Park the motorbike right outside your front door, then you can drive to the car and no need to walk.

Good luck with your test @AppleScruffJunior.

Just don’t do a Frank Spencer

But then I would have to physically get up to reach my phone- that physical output would be far too much!

That and my nearest friend with a car is about 15 mins drive away- far too long to expect them to take me across the road.

@meanmistermustard I’ll try not to, but it’ll probably go something along these lines (me being the person crashing obviously), complete with the actual music that I probably will be playing!

Very sad to hear of the passing of jazz clarinettist Mr. Acker Bilk at the age of 85.

One of the great UK jazz musicians, and a rare UK musician to have a US hit before The Beatles with the classic Strangers on the Shore.

In his long career he covered many Beatles songs.

Oh, brother. I thought my phone had quit working right and that I needed a new sim card (long story). The nice gentleman at the AT&T store showed me that I had put the card in backwards. I won’t make that mistake again. I will come up with another one to make…don’t you worry.

The Beatles shared the billing a few times with Acker Bilk; twice aboard the MV ‘Royal Iris’ on the River Mersey for a Riverboat Shuffle, on the 25th August 1961 & 6th July 1962, and then finally at the ABC Cinema, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk on the 28th June 1963.
