Yeah… well my parents were fans, but only back in the eighties, so I’ve never grown up with The Beatles, of course they had a few records, but that was it.

That’s what my mom did. And her mom+brothers too
I’ve always disliked camping. I’ve only done it three times but whatever. I hate the bugs, the fact there’s not that much room, the fact you have to go out to go to the toilet. Pinkpop was horrible with the storm. That was pretty traumatic. That was when I decided I’ll never go camping again. If I’ll ever have children, they can go camping with their dad if they want, but I’d rather stay home, warm and cosy, thank you very much.

Good to know, timetable finished. I’m starting off with 2:00-2:30 hrs per day (rising to 3:00-3:30 in the run up to the exams)- well that’s the plan
Enough boring class talk:
How is everyone today?

@trcanberra, out of interest and in light of tonights defeat and the first two league games how are you sitting on the Man U/van Gaal project?
Oh my; finding it hard to work out just what is going on. I am VERY happy about the new signing, but of course it has been over-shadowed by the 4-0 hammering.
We have far too many ordinary players whatever the project and really needed about 4 more by this stage with so many experienced players gone or retired. I think we have moved far too late for replacements and need another good defender and one or two midfielders – but they should have been signed 3 weeks ago and maybe all this would not have happened.
The new manager seems rather stubborn about formations but I am willing to give him some time and see how we go with a few more players fit and the first team on the park. However, I think at least 5 players need to be shown the door – it is a disgrace that they get paid more per week than many of us do per year.

Who would you show the door?
And who is at fault for how things got this bad, keeping in mind that 16 months ago you won the league by a country mile and it wasnt this much of a disaster under Moyes. Was it all down to Ferguson? Is it the case therefore of having to see how bad the infection is so it can begin to cleansed, everyone now realising that the infection is much deeper than previously thought (the puss in this case being the likes of Cleverley, Anderson, Smalling, Jones and Young who clearly aren’t anywhere near the standard set by previous Man U individuals (and by individuals i dont mean Keane, Beckham or Scholes etc))?
It is important to realise that tonights defeat only contained 3 players that you’d think van Gaal will have any true belief in.

^ I would show the door to 3 of those you mentioned; Smalling and Jones are useful back up players and Jones may yet step up to first team standard. I would add Fletcher and Welbeck to that list – Welbs has pace and not much else – he is the new Heskey and flatters to deceive. While the team was pretty much a 2nd string, it is disappointing how poor they were – a lot of those players have been great in the youth team etc. and I thought they would go much better than they did. Maybe putting away one of their early chances would have settled them but after Kagawa went off injured we just lost all direction.
While Ferguson was obviously a factor I feel the owners are at fault – we have failed to replace players for some years now and knew well in advance that Ferdinand, Vidic, Scholes, Giggs et al were all leaving. If we don’t get another defender and midfielder as mentioned above I think this could be a very long season – even though our probable first team looks okay on paper we are lacking quality backup and steel in the middle of the park. Of course, the fans have been saying this for years on the forums and now the world is starting to see what we knew long ago.
Still, I have been a fan long enough that I have seen far worse days – relegation to the 2nd division not longer after winning our first European Cup comes to mind – and we went through 4 or 5 managers and 20 years plus before we managed to replace Sir Matt. Hopefully it won’t be so long this time around – I only see LVG as a temporary manager as he will be retiring in 2-3 years (if he lasts that long).
