Anyone who’s ever had to deal with a customer helpline for whatever reason will know how much hell they can be as the person on the phone is impossible to deal wth (generally its not their fault, its the procedures the company has in place that the customer service assistant has to follow). One guy recorded the last 8 minutes of his dealings with comcast when he was trying to cancel his internet service; you can hear that section here and/or read the BBC’s report on it here. I’m amazed he stayed so calm.

Either the BBC or Comcast doesn’t like you. Your link to the BBC article goes to a story titled “Microsoft set to axe 18,000 jobs”.

@meanmistermustard That’s pretty typical of Comcast, or any other cable company, at least here in America. When I had DirecTV, I had to cancel after one of their reps told me that if I wanted to have it when I moved into my apartment, I had to install a coffee can into the ground and set up the dish myself, because there was no way they could hook it to the wall outside the apartment building. He told me this while I’m looking at FIVE dishes set up along the walls.
Then this exchange occurred…
Me: “Several of my neighbors have it up on their floor.”
Rep Guy: “I didn’t ask for your attitude, son.”

Ah, an opportunity to bash Comcast!
My last day living in Maine was 12/31/13. The last thing on my agenda prior to leaving for the long drive to Pennsylvania was to drop off my cable boxes at the local Comcast office. I knew from previous experience that the office was open until 5PM. Arriving at 3:30PM, I was dismayed to see a sign on the door which read “We are closed early for New Year’s Eve”. I called the toll free number and explained to a nice woman my dilemma. Understanding that this was my last day in Maine and my needing to turn in the boxes, she said she would send me two postage-paid boxes to my PA address and I could return them that way. I left feeling good about Comcast and thought nothing more about it…until a couple of months later when I still had not received the postage-paid boxes, but instead received a bill for the yet-to-be-returned equipment. I once again dialed the toll free number and explained to the rep what had happened. He told me that he saw no notes on the file stating postage-paid boxes were to be sent and that it would not have been an option anyway. After a moment of stunned silence, I asked if I could simply turn them in here in PA. Nope – they had to go to Maine. Fortunately for me, I had to return there anyway as the house was not sold yet and I had to go back up and get more of my stuff.
Comcast bites…hard.

On the news this morning, there was a story in which a severed head wrapped in a plastic bag was found in the woods behind a house. The news anchor went on to say that it was found in an area where other body parts were recently discovered. I nearly spit out my coffee when he said “authorities are examining the body parts to see (wait for it) if they are connected”.

What’s that one popular Tame Impala song with the grungy distorted bass riffs? It’s got a lyric about a Cadillac or something. I like that one!
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

Just took that quiz as well, as I’m extremely bored. I got Strawberry Fields Forever too, which is brilliant since that’s my favourite. I do think the description fits me too.

The quiz for Beatles wifes didn’t have Heather as an option
I am sad that they don’t have Beatles For Sale as an option for favorite album
I got Hey Jude text is under spoiler
Congrats your Beatles theme song is Hey Jude ! Hey Jude was written by Paul McCartney for John Lennon ‘s son, Julian, during his parent’s divorce. You often find your world to be ever-changing and overwhelming. You might need a push from others to break through it and overcome the obstacles in your way, but when you do, your strength and heart will lead you to happiness.
Anyone heard of the Forer effect?

Never heard of the Barnum effect, why do you ask? Do you think it pertinent to me?
