Ray Davies has confirmed that he’s in discussions with brother Dave to get The Kinks back together for the first time in nearly twenty years. Not just an oldies tour to mark their 50th anniversary though, but an album of new material.I met Dave only last week to talk about getting back together again. We’ve also spoken a few times on the phone and emailed. He’s been composing his own songs, but I’d really like to write with him again. We both agree we don’t want to do old stuff or tour with past hits. It’s got to be something new.
I don’t want to see the legacy of The Kinks soured by two miserable old men doing it for the money.
I'm Necko. I'm like Ringo except I wear necklaces.
I'm also ewe2 on weekends.
Most likely to post things that make you go hmm... 2015, 2016, 2017.

Ray Davies said all this on the BBC back in October of last year – see this interview from 5:55 in. Its hardly new.

What sad and tragic news to hear of the death of Rik Mayall at the age of 56, one of the most important and influential British comedians/comic actors/writers of the last 35 years. With The Young Ones and The Comic Strip Presents… and so much more, he helped revolutionise British comedy.
Just shocking, shocking news, and he will be sadly missed…
RIP Rik!

Rik Mayall has died aged 56!!! Flippin heck!! Thats a shock and damn sad news
I grew up watching him in Bottom, The Young Ones, Blackadder, The New Statesmen and host of other stuff and loved it all. Even saw him with Ade Edmonson live in Glasgow. He was brilliant, one comedian i loved watching but could also act.
Will be much missed by so many but has left so much for folk to enjoy.

“Opening my own Twitter to stop another b*****d from doing it. So f**k off and do not expect to hear from me anytime soon. Love Rik.”

Ok I need to rant a little.
Guys, I know this sounds strange, or weird, or too fangirl… but after reading the news about Paul postponing his concerts.. my gosh I don’t think I can take it if .. well if the worst happens. *knocks on wood*. At first I was like “Ok that’s fine, he will be fine.. and Mith come on it’s not like he’s your relative!” but as soon as I played Free As A Bird , I started crying like a baby. But I know it’s just the fear I have now of losing someone I love.
Phew thanks for listening guys. Now, carry on…

Hey – I’m with you on this one. What with Rik and all it’s just a reminder to cherish everyone who is still with us.

Why does John have seven smileys whereas Paul has 12, George 10 and Ringo 13?Is there some hidden message in their totals?
Maybe the totals are related to how long they were on the earth so far.

From last year, one of Rik Mayall’s final pieces of work – a short and slightly gruesome animation called Don’t Fear Death.

Hi! I’m back. Sunburnt all over and sick a bit, but back nonetheless.
First, I’m a bit sad about Rik Mayall. He was still quite young, and I always liked The Young Ones and Bottom. Wasn’t he married to Jennifer Saunders? Whatever, too lazy to look it up.
Okay: Pinkpop.
It was awesome, except for the two storms. One of them happened yesterday evening. Metallica was supposed to come on within half an hour, but all of a sudden the sky turned black and it started to storm. The organizer came on stage to tell us we needed to stay on the festival ground and couldn’t return to the camping. If we’d be smart, we’d sit down with a rain poncho on. So we did. It was supposed to be raining for just 20 minutes or so, but one and a half hour later, we were still sitting there. Eventually it stopped and Metallica could play. That night though, it started again. I was trying to sleep on my wet stuff, which was wet from the storm I just mentioned, and all of a sudden I felt my face getting wet. This was at 4 am. I saw the tent was collapsing at one side. I woke my sister and we basically spent one and a half hours sitting with our sleeping bags over our heads trying to hold the tent up. EVERYTHING was wet. We then decided to pack up everything and take the first train home. I was wearing wet clothes and looked like some kind of hobo. We were so cold. It was so weird. We were sitting in the train for nearly 4 hours and at one point it was sunny and people with short dresses and t-shirts and shorts were walking in and we were sitting there in jumpers shivering. And I was freaking sunburnt. My shoulders and back hurt, but my forehead looks ridiculous. Ripe for the barbeque.
Anyway, let’s start with Saturday.
Ed Kowalczyk: He came here to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Throwing Copper by his former band Live. I thought I didn’t really know a lot of their songs, but I knew more than I thought. It was great and I liked the orchestra.
Haim: Boring. Left after two songs. Very bad too.
Flogging Molly: This was fun. I’d heard of them, but didn’t actually know any songs. It was truly fun with a lot of dancing and jumping around.
John Mayer: Wow. He is beautiful in real life. And very skinny. And also very good, but when he played his solos it looked as if he was having orgasms or something. Also, he didn’t really interact with the audience, which is a shame.
The Rolling Stones: The moment everyone was waiting for. They came on half an hour too late, but it didn’t matter. And woah, Mick Jagger is so short and skinny! Anyway, once I’d overcome the shock of ”ermahgerd it’s the Stones! aaaah” I didn’t really think it was that special. They did a lot of songs I didn’t really know, and yeah..I just hate mouth organs. Some things went on for too long. He sounded good though, and really has the moves! You just have to look at him all the time for some reason. The well known songs were fun and it’s great to have seen them.
Sunday:
Chef Special: Dutch band, chill music, a lot of fun. Great way to start your Sunday.
The Kooks: Fun, but not great. Lead singer whose name escapes me right now shrieked a few times and did some funny sounds, which at the beginning was fun, but started to annoy me after a while. They were energetic and good though. Nothing special.
Ed Sheeran: He was all on his own with a guitar and a looping machine. It was great, one of my favourite acts. He had so much interaction with the crowd and he was just great. Talented guy. The way he left the stage was a bit strange though. He told us to keep singing the woaah bits of ”Sing” and all of a sudden he was gone and left the crowd with a huge question mark above their heads.
Editors: One of my favourite acts. Great band, great songs. Love them. Great stage presence. Awesome.
Arctic Monkeys: Great show, but at some points it really looked like they were struggling. They’re one of my favourite bands though, so it was good to see them and they did well. I also bought a shirt. I don’t really like Alex Turner’s new image though, with all the hip swinging bits. It seems so odd when you compare it to what he used to look like a few years ago, with the longer hair and casual clothes. The typical British lad. This was weird. And he just finds himself extremely hot or something.
Monday:
Jett Rebel: Dutch singer, great guy. His voice and guitar playing sounded good and I enjoyed the songs, even though I didn’t know half of them. He gave away a really good show.
Kodaline: Didn’t really watch it, but heard most of it. Sounded alright.
Stromae: Was never a big fan, but woah, this was a good show. He is Belgian so he spoke Dutch to us and he was just a fun personality. His voice was good and so was the music. I also liked the decor and the outfits of him and the band. And the way he moves is so odd! You need to see it. I couldn’t really enjoy it, as I got a bit sick during his set. Everything started to spin around a bit and I was sweating my ass off. I had already drunk 2.5 liters of water and I had used sunscreen, yet I got sunburnt and the water was not enough. Thankfully there were a few kind men standing behind us, who were worried about me. They gave me water, asperines and chewing gum, and a few wipes. One of them kept on taking my hat off to throw water over my head. It was very sweet, they kept on asking me if I was alright.
Jake Bugg: Love the songs, very adorable guy, just my age. It’s amazing how far you can come at such a young age. He didn’t interact with the crowd at all though.
Overheard a bit of Arcade Fire, which sounded good.
Metallica: YEAH. AWESOME. The show was by request, which means the audience had to vote for songs for them to perform. The setlist was great and I was blaring along. We left a few songs before the end though, I just couldn’t stand or walk anymore.
So I think that was pretty much it.

The time has come for some tough cuts. Can you take out the default ring tones and replaces them with some of your tunes? Or have you already done that
