I have one unread post yet have no way of finding it without going thru every sub-folder and recent thread i think i haven’t been in.a-hard-days-night-paul-3

I find this quite something. A train travelling on a Somerset line in England, normally there are surrounding fields.

^That’s a lot of rain. Do you know if the water ever got over the tracks?

I was thinking about John’s small bedroom at Mendips and how it didn’t have a chair so Paul and John would sit on the bed and write songs.

That made me think about Norwegian Wood when he looks around and “there wasn’t a chair.”

On the website hosting the Classic Rock Awards (Vote NEW album of the year, it’s 0.2% back!) there was a link to what musicians who died young might have looked like now. It includes Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Keith Moon, and Jimi Hendrix. It’s pretty cool, here.

But that’s not the reason I posted it. Prepare yourself… for this:

Horrifying, but actually really well done. I could totally picture him looking like that now.

Wow.

Some parts of the track in south-east England have been completely damaged because of the flooding, so they’re kind of cut off from the rest of the country down there.

That will be one costly clean up and repair effort.

The main rail line connecting Devon and Cornwall in the south-west runs along the sea-front of the coastal town of Dawlish.

And they had to stop the trains when the storm really got going.

Which left the track dangling and looking more like a rope bridge.

They reckon it’ll take at least six weeks to repair the damaged section and reconnect the South-West to the rest of the country. And that depends on the weather, and more storms are expected.

Some of the pictures are horrifying and beautiful in equal measure to me. I feel really sorry for the people down there, but it’s when things like this happen that I remember that humans live on Earth, they don’t own or control it in any way. Mother Nature can be an angry woman and, like any woman should, she does as she pleases.

I’m wearing white socks with black stripes and an achor on them, which raises a question.

What type of socks is everyone wearing today?

Alright, topic change.

I’ve noticed a ridiculous similarity between Blur’s Song 2 and Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Both have a similar sounding (in style) guitar riff. Both have the same structure, as in quiet verse with just the bass going, then an explosion in the chorus. Both have a singer quietly in the verse, then screaming in the chorus. Musically, stylistically, and structurally they sound very similar to me.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Mine have foxes on. ‘Cause I love foxes :)

EDIT: I missed IveJustSeen… attempt to change the topic. Too late. I appreciate it though, thanks :) Have never heard the Blur song, so I really couldn’t say.
