My 3 year old is discovering A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving for the first time. So far, he’s laughed out loud at the Snoopy vs. the lawn chair scene, and Snoopy preparing Thanksgiving with the toast and popcorn. Just like how his daddy worshipped at the altar of Charles Schulz (and still does), now hopefully my little boy will do the same. A Charlie Brown Christmas airs this coming Monday, so it’s another chance for him to enjoy Snoopy.
If little one doesn’t have a stuffed Snoopy, Santa might think about bringing him one.

The presentation I had Tuesday went surprisingly well. The opening was fun, we had a buffet and it was so much fun.
Wednesday I had my date. He was supposed to pick me up from the station, but he was nearly 20 minutes late. One of my exes’ brother was there too, and overheard my date being late, because I was chatting to a schoolmate. So yay, great. Anyway, we went for a drink. In the beginning it felt like I was interviewing him. He didn’t put any effort into it. After a while it went better, but there just wasn’t a spark. Nothing. So at one point I just said my train would be leaving soon. We stood up to pay, but he only took out 10 euros and then looked at me. I didn’t do anything because I thought ”Yeah, I’m not going to pay”. So he grumbled and took out another 4 euros. He then walked me to the train and I went in even though the train would only leave after 15 minutes. It was awkward.

If there’s one thing I don’t miss about being single anymore, it’s awkward dates like that. Can’t tell you how many of those I’ve been on. Hate that for ya.

Watching the news reports, the standard of journalism is dreadful.
Horrible scenes. Not much else can be said. Just hope that the reports of fatalities are wrong but considering a helicopter fell out of the sky into a pub you have to fear the worst.
Me, i’m miles away. Thanks for thinking of me AG.

However bad it is, and it is bad, it could have been so much worse. Luckily – amazingly – no fire.

Aw it’s a shame, he sounds like a bit of an idiot
The helicopter story is tragic but considering how many people it’s reported to have been there, it could have been worse – lets just hope that the number of fatalities doesn’t go up any more.

Very sad to hear that the death toll from last night’s helicopter crash in Glasgow has reached eight. As I said previously, the only cold crumb of comfort is that the helicopter did not explode. And, for all the grief, the people of Glasgow should have a certain pride today – that so many of those closest ran to help rather than ran away in fear that the helicopter could explode at any moment.
A dark St. Andrew’s Day.

So terrible. I didn’t realize it happened on the eve of a special day. Also relieved you weren’t there, MMM.

It’s just horrible, the whole thing. Hearing the news and reports of what happened and then the aftermath and on forums about how they knew people who have died in this or the seriousness of injuries people have suffered.
On other far less important incredibly trivial news i made a pizza from scratch whilst listening to the news, dough included. To say its a bit bigger than normal would be an understatement, its bloody huge. More a loaf than a pizza.
Feels bad posting such garbage.

Best wishes there mmm – and it’s ok to post such stuff – making contact with the ordinary helps us cope with the unexpected.
The week we were there back in 2007 was when some idiot tried to blow up the airport, it was great how people in the city seemed to pull together.

It’s Only Love is one of your favourites? How come? I mean it’s a decent enough song, if you ignore parts of the lyrics, but what makes it so special to you? – if you don’t mind me asking.
Apologies Emily, i did post a reply to this but it must have been of the ones that got swallowed up when the forum was played up.
I love the [weak] lyrics (right, fight, night, sight, bright, bright) and how John laughs whilst he sings the second “very bright”, aware the lyrics are substandard. The melody and tune are fastastic. Plus its a side of John you don’t often get to hear about, a vulnerable side; normally its him being this macho guy – and maybe that’s how he was inside with girls he liked, maybe with Cynthia. And its not a simple i love you yippee song, there is more to it. Maybe this is Johns equivalent to Paul’s Every Little Thing , but probably not (in my head they are heavily connected because of the next sentence coming up in this post).
And possibly because i grew up listening to Love Songs on vinyl which i loved, particularly side 3; It’s Only Love /You’re Going To Lose That That Girl/Every Little Thing back-to-back blew me away, was always picking those out when i had a spare 10 minutes.

^^That song pairs well with “Leave My Kitten Alone .”Yeah. Great shout.
I like it because it moves away from the Girll-ground songs of he loves yeay or he left me boo-hoo. You also have Leader of the Pack where the Shangri-La’s Leader of the Pack where the death of the boyfriend is the theme of the song and off you go, and away from the Girl-groups you have Ricky Nelson’s Tell Laura I Love Her, another great song. Must be others out there.
And a whole lot nicer themed than Run For Your Life where the boyfriend is threatening the girl for going off (love the song tho).
I think John actually admitted years later that he hated that “Run For Your Life ” was on Rubber Soul because the song’s alluding to violence stuck out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of the album’s peace-themed songwriting.
This is the same ‘peace-themed’ album that has Norwegian Wood where the singer sets fire to the girl’s furniture?

Ha ha – the tune is certainly enough to throw the listener off-track isn’t it? For years I assumed he just started a fire in the fireplace to warm himself up (being in Norway and all ).

I got all indignant the first time I heard that the fire wasn’t just in the fireplace…and about all the other stuff the song is supposed to be about. I had it worked out all different in my mind. I think I’m sticking with parlance on this one. I’ll just go on letting the song be what I make of it. I’m staying in my bubble on this one.
