Ray Charles, One Mint Julep — I like that part around 1:35 where the brass stops, backup singers shout “HEY!” then Ray says with such a cool quiet tone, “Just a little bit of soul” — followed by a rap from the snare.

I always feel like Im missing out when it comes to Spotify Wrapped, I don’t get one because I use youtube music instead. I tried my best to figure out what my most listened to artists were by number of songs not by time listened to. The numbers would probably be very similar anyways.
1. The Velvet Underground
2. The Beatles and solos combined
3. Alex G
4. David Bowie
5. It’s tied between Cream, Fleetwood Mac, and Elton John
I think I listened to a lot of good music this year.

I think I listened to a lot of good music this year.
YouTube gave me a little similar “year in review” thing yesterday, but I don’t/didn’t listen to a large amount of music on YT at all, not enough to really be statistically interesting.
And, I have to assume that you DID listen to a ton of good music, Oakwood, but I’m biased because your #1 and #2 are my two favourite bands ever!
Here’s my top 5 tracks of the year – all but “Sister Ray” were tracks I chose because they’re fairly simple and enjoyable for me to shakily strum along with. And I’ve listened to “Sister Ray” hundreds of times since 1986, why would 2024 be any different?

I never watched Homeland when it rolled out in 2011 (lasted up to 2019). Even though it’s a genre I like — counter-terror thriller — I kept avoiding it because I suspected it would have too many politically correct spasms.
Well, I finally decided early this year to take the plunge — and I find it’s a superb show (currently beginning season 6). Sure, it has a few politically correct moments, but to me they don’t ruin the overall excellence.

Radio stations were plugging their cables into the soundboards and broadcasting/recording concerts, often without Brian knowing as he would never have agreed. It’s why we have a good handful of 1964 and 1965 live shows. Meanwhile fans and TV news crews were filming events (often broken into small silent portions of songs) which have been slowly surfacing over the years. There are then dedicated fans who are spending days and weeks stitching the live images together and then syncing that with the audio which gives us the kind of videos that Shamrock Wolmbs posted above.
It’s really quite impressive and what Apple could be doing as they have access to far better technology along with audio and video sources.
