I really need to practice the 7 pieces I have for band. I have the most to learn out of everyone in the school because i am in 3 different bands. And its all for a grade. But here I am… sitting in my room and listening to Paul McCartney

I’d suggest I Want To Hold Your Hand , @Neely, as it’s the track that started the British Invasion and changed the course of American music forever.

I don’t think you should be considering Free As A Bird  or Real Love  as, nice as they are, few people consider them real Beatles tracks, with them often being referred to as being by The Threetles.

I always thought those songs reflected what the beatles were.

i am now leaning towards yesterday.

maybe not I Want To Hold Your Hand because I am playing this at 7 am and i don’t know if i have that type of  energy at that hour.

I played Yesterday

A few people laughed.

other’s didn’t care.

a few told me it’s too early for this.

and then they made fun of me sort of by saying “that was the only reason she brought her guitar” which is not true because i have jazz band sectionals after school.

My teacher loved it because it’s her favourite song of all time.

I am refinishing my Fender Mustang…. at home.

The body of it is sonic blue and the goal is to have natural wood that I will do a coffee stain on.

I continue to be impressed by the BB folks coming up with Baker’s Dozen entries.  My last one — 13 Beatles/solo songs/lyrics about wine (or other spirits) — when I first posted it, I was worried wouldn’t last more than maybe 2 or 3 entries. Then as I kept seeing new ones filling out the list, I thought “why didn’t I remember that one…???”

I spent my birthday money on a piccolo. Used from my woodwind director for $80. She really wanted to get rid of it. She’s had it since she was about 14. Weird thing is: the original price was $1,114 (on sweetwater now). So I got a good deal!

It is 10x harder than my flute. so i am having a lovely time.

Higher end piccolos are made of granadilla wood. mine is a student model so it is ABS resin and silver plated keys. The piccolo pictured is a Jupiter JPC1010

wind instruments are super expensive. the flute i play on currently is a Yamaha YFL-362 and it is $1,613 (current price… i got mine for 1,400 ish) and it is only an intermediate model.

Wow, such a lot of money for such a tiny-voiced instrument…I had no idea they were wooden! Assumed they were metallic like flutes…

I think this is probably my favourite rocknroll classic to employ the instrument:

@Von Bontee It says the video is not available.  I can’t think of any pop music using a piccolo, so I looked up Herbie Mann and this song sounds like he’s playing piccolo at the beginning and end (in the middle he does a solo I think switched to flute):
