I was watching an AP English prep/review video and the teacher’s name was ‘Dawn Knight’ and all I can’t stop thinking about how ‘Dawn Knight’ is such a cool-ass name.

Holy crap “Dawn Knight” sounds like some kinda hippie Robert Planty character from the hobbits-and-s**t Zeppelin canon.

Currently watching a 1972 Doctor Who story ‘Day of the Daleks’, which I’ve had on DVD for a few years. The production value is exactly what you’d expect from a BBC production in the early seventies, but it’s a pretty compelling story nonetheless, and Pertwee’s Doctor is pretty great.
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

I watched the last two Eccleston episodes and they are really good. A simple premise which brings all of the series together in a great storyline which was quite terrifying in places (Daleks exterminating everyone) before a brilliant yet easy to get ending. Then Eccleston regenerates and it’s sad as he really was fantastic. Nowadays you’d be spending three weeks on google trying to figure out what the hell was going on, tracing back to the 70’s to know what all the hints were meaning.

Completely agree. Bar the completely botched ending to the otherwise great Doctor/Donna storyline in s4, Russell T Davies was great at just having a simple, effective overlapping storyline that worked without you needing to have watched every episode of the show going back years to understand.
Today I discovered that Pete Best’s solo discography is just incredibly sad… “The Beatle That Time Forgot?” Poor guy.

I have no sympathy for Pete Best. He’s spent most of his life earning nicely from hawking around his two years or so in the Beatles whilst refusing to admit that he knows why he was sacked and accept it. He was fortunate to get in the band and was rightly booted out for a far better drummer who was a far better fit but let’s not let that be part of his story that he constantly repeats ad nauseam as it doesn’t fit his narrative.

I mean, I agree that he’s spent his life milking it, but think how you’d feel if you suddenly found our that the guys you thought you were your friends had kicked you out of the band without even saying it to your face, and then a matter of months later went on to become the most successful band in history. He was a lousy drummer, true, but he wasn’t exactly treated well.

I remember Pete saying that he was somehow either playing at a gig or was next to the stage where The Beatles also were and Paul walked right past him and didn’t even acknowledge him.
Aww, poor Pete.

As y’all may have noticed, I changed my signature quote from
“Staccato signals of constant information… These are the days of miracle and wonder, and don’t cry, baby, don’t cry”
from Paul Simon’s “The Boy In The Bubble” which I chose earlier in the year when things were simpler and more chaotic, to
“We have a way of saving our own lives”
from “Fistfull Of Mercy” by Fistful of Mercy (hehehe). Mostly because I love that song, and also it’s more vaguely Beatley, but also because I think the song’s message is an important reminder during these times: life is always down against the grave, but maybe it’s a blessing in disguise, maybe it’s all just a part of the way of the universe, because “we have a way of saving our own lives…” In other words, yes, life gives you lemons, but it also gives you the desire and ability to make lemonade.
Thank you for attending my late-night armchair philosophy lecture. Go forth and make lemonade out of your life.

12 October 1962. The Beatles were second on the bill to Little Richard (RIP ) at the Tower Ballroom in New Brighton. Pete had joined Lee Curtis & the All-Stars, who were one of the nine other bands who played that night. There was an awkward passing in a corridor. It was the one and only time they were both on the same bill after Pete’s sacking.

I bought a blackhead extractor vacuum and am having a great time, hoovering the hell out of my family’s faces. Second brother is the worst- his nose is really oily. Mam is the best.

As a girl on the mission to watching all of Tom Hanks’ films (I’m on a slow but steady pace), The Terminal shouldn’t be last (of all of his I’ve watched ‘Every Time We Say Goodbye’ should be- s***e film, he’s the only good thing in it), You’ve Got Mail and That Thing You Do should be higher.
