Forgive me because I am a straight-haired heathen and I don’t understand why decreasing the amount of hair would not decrease the poofiness by decreasing the amount of hair available for poofing

Not quite. When it’s long, it’s heavy, and it more or less keeps it from resembling a dandelion.

Offline Chris Eccleston is making me sad, he’s my favourite Doctor and all of the Doctors that are still alive did a little two-minute video or so ‘thank you’ for front line workers. Every Doctor except him. Like Chris I know you hated the way the BBC treated you (and other workers) during Who but come on, record yourself for 20 seconds saying you’re the Doctor and it would have made everyone happy.
His absence was enormous, made him look like a colossal dick.

Well, he did do this reading for BBC Radio 5…
…which definitely shows his appreciation of the work being done by the NHS. I’m with mmm, nice as it would have been if he’d done it, if it’s not something he wants to be associated with anymore, it’s his right to make that choice.
