Although I would disagree with Sydney’s placement a bit, if it wasn’t for the harbour it’d be turning into Chicago, that’s how bad the sprawl is. Melbourne’s getting a bit sprawly too but it actually has a functioning public transport system. Last I heard Sydney is belatedly trying to reintroduce trams and the story of the second airport is so pathetic it has it’s own Wikipedia page. State government is such a basket case over it the Feds have had to start building it themselves.
Because Sydney’s main airport is basically surrounded by the city, it has harsh noise pollution restrictions and a curfew roughly between 11pm and 6am (there are exceptions). This has been a boon to both Brisbane and Melbourne airports, since few international flights can land during that period. You’d think that was a political stimulus to a second airport but you’d be wrong!

No joke, folks. I recently bought the Matrix Reloaded score, and have been listening to the track ‘Chateau’ quite a bit. Last night during the football break they had Chateau playing in the background, at the same time I was listening to it in my earphones. I turned down the volume and was freaked out. It was playing at the exact point as mine as well. What an amazing coincidence.

Offline I had an idea for a new game in the forum games section, but I won’t make a thread for it unless there’s sufficient people interested.
Basically, it’s an identify the Beatles song game…
I’d take a 2 second excerpt of a song, from one of the channels of the stereo mix (so for some songs that might mean only one instrument…), and post a youtube link to it.
Obviously there’s an big hole in that it would be really easy to cheat – but that defeats the purpose of the game, it’s more about the thrill of unleashing your true hardcore Beatles fan status.
Is anyone interested? And if so, do you have any suggestions for the format?

Offline Maybe you could distort the song somehow, or make it harder to recognise? I tried it out by shuffling my Beatles playlist and I found most of them were fairly easy to recognise.
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.
