That’s surprisingly listenable, not that I am going to.
I liked the new ‘Lion King’ film, it looks great and the story is that good that it’s hard to go wrong. Basically, it’s a very good cover of a brilliant film. The soundtrack is horrendous tho. Bland covers that leave you bored and unmoved.
Rowan Atkinson was brilliant on the original ‘I Just Can’t Wait To Be King’, the new one has changed the phrasing and it just sounds dull.

Mostly Fender Precision on side one and Rickenbacker 4001 on side two, if I’m not mistaken (“sides” are an olde worlde expression when you used to turn over a “record” on a “record player” and put a thing called a “needle” “on” it. Now get off my lawn), lots of clever bits there. I’ve been playing lots of guitar and teaching myself bits of songs in between re-recording a few of my parody songs that were made before I had guitars. Today I somehow figured out the guitar intro and solo to Drive My Car . Harrison puts all kinds of bends in places I never suspected before. (e: not the solo, that’s Paul with a slide. I got to get one of those things.)

and yes, you need a slide, you can do all sorts of trippy s**t with it that has nothing to do with proper Harrison-style slide guitar

Offline Here’s my new Beatles stuff from the Love gift shop. I had a lot of difficulty deciding what was worth the spending of my meager budget, and eventually settled on this:
There’s a plaque, which I got instead of a poster because it’s a) smaller and therefore it will be easier to find space for it on my already crowded walls b) more portable, less likely to get crumpled or bent in my suitcase and c) it has a better picture than most of the posters.
I also got some Beatles buttons because I have very little impulse control:
And the White Album anniversary edition because DEMOS.

Offline I have been spending large amounts of time in trees as of late, with the weather being as nice as it is, and it is doing good things for my mood — my general temperament is typically sunny anyway, but even I require much sitting in trees listening to Floyd and Harrison and Zeppelin to balance the large amounts of news and politics I consume.
@50yearslate today’s tree-listening included Living In The Material World specifically (as well as my go-to albums Obscured by Clouds and Houses of the Holy), and I thought I would recommend it to you particularly.

Offline Good to know, I’ll have to try it. I also must listen to Houses Of The Holy as I was intercepted on my way out the door and never got a chance to visit the tree. I imagine my new Esher demos will also make good tree-listening

Offline Uploading my new White Album and it’s taking f o r e v e r.
