That is brilliant news. In my music production course, 2 years ago, we spent about 2 weeks looking at this as a case study for copyright cases.

I’m very happy to hear that there is a happy ending, finally. A bitter story with a sweet ending, one might say?

You should be fine in the garage, RN, as long as you keep your gun views quite. Shhhhhhh….

It’s a bittersweet symphony, that’s life.

I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

I find this so weird. Aren’t schools supposed to prepare you for the future? High schools expect students to make big, life-changing decisions and to know what they’re going to do for the rest of their lives. But they still restrict the internet and make us ask for permission to use the toilet.

But they’re obviously trying to maintain some kind of sense of order/professionalism with hundreds of teenagers. Sure you can make your life decisions, but there are also reasons to restrict certain things. Even when you’re a grown-ass adult there are things that are Not Suitable For Work (and not just *those* things, you smutty minds). Don’t get me wrong, I hear y’all’s complaints, I’m just arguing for the principle of it.

With that having been said, the specific way it’s being carried out is obviously off — Walry should be able to google the gay blonde people. a-hard-days-night-paul-7

Yeah, BeatleBug (I was going to type BB but I realised that could mean a million different things on here) makes a good point. I think the best way to do it is to give more responsibility to students as they get older,.

But in full:

Didn’t realise you lived in an area where there’s a high level of gun violence with your neighbours regularly opening fire on each other to protect the boundaries of their land… Sounds like there’s plenty enough guns in your neighbourhood for me not to worry unless that’s so.

My point exactly. She’s never described the area as violent, so why would I need at least 3 guns? Why would I need one gun?

Well, it is time for our latest eelrailment (@50yearslate):

My fellow Beatlemaniac brother has made a “bootleg” of Rocky Raccoon . He made it by slowing down, speeding up, and taking various scraps from various takes and cobbling it all together. It is also interspersed with “dialogue” that he made up and then said in a slightly adorable “Liverpool accent” of his own creation. I tried to explain to him that that’s not how bootlegs work, but he wouldn’t have it. For anyone who is interested, here is an approximate “script” (but I’m pretty sure he made it all up on the spot) that transcribed from the recording:

Paul: (sings, taken from the official recording slowed down to about 75%, I think):
Now somewhere in the Black Mountain Hills of Dakota
There lived a young boy named Rocky Raccoon
*Clears his throat for around 13 seconds*

John: *Drops what I have been informed is a plastic Tupperware on floor, which makes a clinking sound*

Paul: Hey, John, that was my lunch! And why are you eating while we’re recording?

John: We’re not recording right now.

Paul: Yes we are! It’s recording, isn’t it?

John: It is.

Paul: Well then why are you eating lunch, John?

John: I’m not eating lunch right now.

Paul: Well then why were you eating lunch in the recording studio?

John: Well… That was… I was eating lunch, but not while we were actually recording the song!

George: Well, can we get to recording the song?

Paul: Well, uh, yeah. I was waiting on you guys.

George: We were waiting on you, Paul!

Paul: Okay, then!

(sings, taken from the what I believe to be the demo slowed down to about 75%, and a slightly sped-up, backwards version of take 8 in the background, resulting in a sound reminiscent of Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite !):
And one day his woman ran off with another guy
Hit young Rocky in the eye
Rocky didn’t like that
He said, “I’m gonna get that boy”
So one day he walked into town
Booked himself a room in the local saloon

(sings, taken from the official recoding slightly sped up, still with reversed, sped-up take 8 in the background):
Rocky Raccoon checked into his room
Only to find Gideon’s Bible
Rocky had come, equipped with a gun
To shoot off the legs of his rival

(sings, taken from unaltered official recording):
His rival it seems, had broken his dreams
By stealing the girl of his fancy
Her name was Magill, and–

*Makes puking sounds for approximately 30 seconds.*

George: Oh look! A digestive bickie!

(Note: at this point I put two and two together and assumed that Paul had just thrown up a still-whole digestive.)

Ringo: He just puked, you know. Maybe we should, like, take him to the doctor or something.

George: Okay, then.

*Various noises over the course of the next two minutes, including several doors slamming, a duck quacking, a clock ticking, a car accident, and a fire alarm.*

(Note: I asked my brother if Paul ever made it to the hospital, and he refused to disclose any information.)

I watched the Crackerbox Palace video for the first time today. Highly amusing.

This post inspired me to rewatch the Crackerbox Palace video, which in turn inspired me to try over dinner (for the millionth time) to convince my brother that it’s a really good song. Which didn’t work. Again. Although I’m not really sure what I expected; he despises Thirty Three & 1/3 on general principal (in addition to Somewhere In England , Gone Troppo and Cloud Nine ) and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to convince him otherwise. Terrible, isn’t it?
