50yearslate, BeatlebugI've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

Myself, I wouldn’t want a free hat that involved joining the N(ational)R(ifle)A(ssociation) and becoming part of America’s gun lobby.
If you come to live in the garage, just know that every house in my neighborhood has a minimum of three guns in it. Guess you’d have to get some too. Might want to join the NRA.

Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 but I may have to get more specific in the future.

Didn’t realise you lived in an area where there’s a high level of gun violence with your neighbours regularly opening fire on each other to protect the boundaries of their land… Sounds like there’s plenty enough guns in your neighbourhood for me not to worry unless that’s so.
More guns don’t equal safer streets.

Okay, double posting, but up above was a reply, and here’s what I came here for…
One of rock’s biggest injustices has come to an end, involving the great managerial villain, Allen Klein (boo, boo ).
Released in 1997, easily one of the greatest songs of the late ’90s Britpop-era, and written by Richard Ashcroft around a sample taken from an orchestral cover of The Last Time by the Andrew Oldham Orchestra. Klein owned the rights to the ’60s Stones material, and allowed a five-note sample to be used for 50% of the royalties.
When Bitter Sweet Symphony became a massive hit around the world, Klein threatened a plagiarism lawsuit against the Verve unless 100% were surrendered as he claimed a slightly longer sample had been used, breaking the 50% agreement. A typical Klein move, “Surrender or take it off the shelves immediately while we fight it out.”
Ashcroft felt he had no choice, surrendering the rights to the publishing, meaning he never earned a penny for writing one of, if the not the, most iconic of the group’s songs.
It seems that negotiations have been going on in the background since Klein’s death between his son, the Stones management and Ashcroft.
Last night (23rd), accepting an Outstanding Contribution award at the Ivor Novello Awards, Ashcroft revealed:
As of last month, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards signed over all their publishing for Bitter Sweet Symphony, which was a truly kind and magnanimous thing for them to do.
22 years too late, in my opinion, but Ashcroft finally has his song back.
