Anyway, I think he’s in character in that one as an insecure person who is desperate to cling to some belief, any belief, to keep from being Afraid. (Excellent song, by the way. Pete Townshend of the Who contributes lead guitar, if I recall. )

I’ve heard about four of their songs. @SgtPeppersBulldog is a fan, though. .

That’s what I figured. (Not the Pete Townshend part, although that’s pretty cool, but the character part.

All I’ve heard is We Love You and I Wanna Be Your Man (both for Beatley reasons) and I wasn’t impressed by either one.

So… do you guys have thoughts on The Rolling Stones? In my opinion, they’re not on the level of the Beatles (obviously), but I enjoy their music .
Can’t say I’ve covered their whole discography, love them though
I think considering the quantity and quality of great albums, the Stones may be the only band that’s competitive with the Beatles. (Hope I won’t get bashed…I still love the Beatles most!)
In their early era (mid 60s), their style tended to be pop-ish, also having some exotic and psychedelic elements. Songs like Paint It, Black or Ruby Tuesday can be familiar to Beatles fans.
Their most classic and acclaimed era (also my fav) is 68-72, when they returned to blues root. My fav Stones album, Exile On Main St., is from this era.
From late 70s and beyond the Stones seemed to decline, but they also made Some Girls, probably their most easy-listening album.

The most attractive picture ever
I have very mixed feelings on the Stones. They only really got famous because their manager marketed them in such a way that they played off the back of the popularity of The Beatles. It took them several years of the occasional good song amongst the mediocrity, and numerous Beatles rip-offs, before they finally began to justify their fame with the Beggar’s Banquet album. After that their string of albums up to and including Exile On Main St they were one of the best bands in the world, but they soon faded into mediocrity again. I’ve only heard about 5 or 6 of their albums after 1972 but I was disappointed by all of them except Some Girls which I enjoyed. They seem like they’re a pretty awesome live band though.

Beatlebug, ThatWeirdBeatlesGirlI've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

@Beatlebug sure right I am!
@ThatWeirdBeatlesGirl big Stones fan right here! I’ve made it well known around here a couple of times that I especially love the Brian Jones era of the group (1962 – early ’69) and I do dig their later stuff with Mick Taylor and Ronnie too, but not as much.
I’m also one of the three people on planet Earth who thinks Satanic Majesties isn’t that much of a Sgt Pepper rip off as most people make it out to be…

Nearly every day when I first wake up I feel as if things I said yesterday were stupid, and my thoughts may be different today. Anyone else get that feeling? I think it’s just the time of day.

Absolutely. A lot of the time when I’m rereading old threads I inevitably end up reading some of my old posts, and they always make me cringe, even if they’re just from the day before.

And you haven’t even been here that long. I’ve been posting on this forum for four years (wow so old ), and I was sooooo cringey four years ago, or even three
I’m wandering through dark corridors of YouTube and internet trying to seek the True Shakespearean Accent and what its modern counterparts might sound like, and also trying to figure out whether Robert Plant’s accent is regional, which region it’s most similar to, so I can someday travel to a place where everyone talks like him because he has the most exquisite accent I’ve ever heard. So far I haven’t been successful in finding anyone who sounds quite like him, I think he just has a rather unique lilt/voice in general. Any Brits want to help? (He grew up in Kidderminster, Worcestershire, by the way, according to The Wikipedia.)

That’s me definitely me just merely thinking about my “annoying 14 year old posts that seemed to peeve Starr Shine? quite a bit back in the day” posts from when I first signed up. Cringe City!
I’ve said it before in a lengthy post, but just to clarify I’ve done a heck ton of growing up since then. Forgive me, SS!

They have a decent greatest hits album. I tried getting into them years ago, but most of their stuff felt like filler to me.

^Where was she from? The accent sounds kind of Scottish to my ears, or maybe the west of England.
