I’m thinking perhaps a guitar pun themed name, like GuitArnold, GuitArlene or GuiArthur. If I go for something serious, it’ll most likely be a woman’s name. Maybe Victoria.

Beatlebug, WeepingAtlasCedarsI've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

Great guitar. This may seem weird but I think the Gibson SG is a better guitar than the Gibson Les Paul, the SG has a double cutaway that gives super easy access to even the highest frets, it’s not nearly as bulky as a Les Paul and I think it looks cooler and if Gibson wasn’t a total jerk to left handed people like myself I would get an SG because they are great guitars. As for the name, I noticed that you referred to the guitar as a she so how about She Said, She Said since George used his SG on that song it would be a perfect match.

Congratulations on your lovely lady @ewe2! Might I suggest you name her something vaguely colour-related… like Sherry or Cheryl? That’s just what it suggests to me. Or you could name her something that starts with SG that isn’t Silly Girl.
@QuarryMan my friend has a blue bass which he christened Victoria.

You can really get that Day Tripper guitar sound with both pickups and everything up full. It’s got a weird scooped sound in that position compared to a fullish sound on each separate pickup. I must check the wiring to see how that is, a bit of a surprise. I have a terrible amp that doesn’t do it justice, but I can overdrive the usb interface with it already! To say nothing of the instant AC/DC gratification 😀 You’re right @Dark Overlord it’s a light guitar, and a fast neck, but the left-of-centre-of-gravity takes some getting used to, the neck seems longer than it is, and my strap is a bit slippery which lets it neck-dive a bit. I could go nuts and get some lighter Gotoh tuners but I think its just getting used to a guitar that is best played higher up on your body than a Tele or a Strat. Clapton’s “woman tone” is really easy to get too particularly up the neck. Once I put this through an amp modeller I’ll have a better idea of its range (planning on getting one that imitates Fenders from Champs to Reverbs and Bassmans), it’s both quieter than an amp and less expensive, and I can judge the coil-splitting better. Although I probably will get something like a Champ copy as I will be getting other guitars.
As for names, yes @Beatlebug I had considered “Cherry” but that seems too obvious, as would be Sounds Great. Technically @gettingbetter naming the guitar after that song would require a boys name since it was Peter Fonda and not a She. Fonda seems just a bit weird for a guitars name…although Barbarella isn’t too bad (Jane Fonda).

I went to guitar center with my brother and two cousins to get guitar strings, and I left with this beauty. I’m really happy with myself
What would be a good name? I’ve kind of already named it Moondog for multiple reasons, both Beach Boys and Beatles related.

Congratulations, all new guitar owners!
@sir walter raleigh I think a good name would be moondog Shirley? Unless it’s a he not a she… in which case, Walter? Unless it’s gender fluid…
Speaking of names, I named my guitar Maxwell.

@sir walter raleigh that is one lovely looking plunker! Speaking of plunking, I got inspired and did my first recording with the Epi, some reggae dub and it’s perfect for it. Also, I’ve resigned myself to layby-ing another guitar, this time a Fender CC-140SCE (that’s an acoustic electric with a cutaway) because it’s $200 cheaper and comes with a case. I will probably need a guitar rack by the time I’m done 😀

Nice Duo Sonic those guitars are cool although I’m not a big fan of Fenders with humbuckers.
I was excited about the double coil because I’m not quite sure how I’ll be getting my amp out to the northwest along with the guitar, so I may just buy a cheap little used amp from a music store just for practice. The humbuckers will come in handy here.

^ That’s literally the first time I’ve ever heard them referred to as double coil — I’ve only heard humbuckers and single coil. Is that something they say out there in the Northwest?

How are the 4 of your new guitars doing @The Hole Got Fixed @Martha @ewe2 @sir walter raleigh last night I put a black pickguard on my Fender/Squier.
It looks really cool from a distance although sadly it looks weird up close as the hole for the bridge pickup was cut so it could fit an angled humbucker so I’m going to need to get some electrical tape to fix that.

Wow that looks very cool @Dark Overlord
I’m having great fun with my new guitar. It really gives a good fingerpicking sound, like that of Mark Knopfler.

Your guitar looks very sleek DO!
My guitar has probably realised I’m a Beatles fan by now, let’s put it that way! But it plays well.

Looks pretty sharp, dude! My fingers are getting better at electric guitar strings and I’m figuring out some ways around my issues with barre chords – either play the low ones, or play the top ones – my issue is with the A-shape barres, I can’t get a clear enough top string note, so I do the half-one instead. But it’s all good, really happy with the guitar who I’ve named Shona, an Indian word meaning “sweetheart” in three different languages and also has the connotation of hot/red.

^^ That really only works with the E-shape (I hated the A-shape almost as much as @ewe2 and I love that thumb trick so of course I’ve tried it) unless you have realllllly long fingers. When I play A-shape barres, I usually forgo the bottom E. A lot of practise has got my fingers to not protest the chord shape so much, and also they’re easier to get away with on electric.
Edit: Oh, yes, very nice pickguard job, DO. And I quite approve of the name, ewe2!

I saw a cool technique for A-shaped bar chords one time. The guy pressed his pinky down to the notes and bent his knuckle backwards to clear space for the top string. It looked like it really hurt or was maybe some weird joint thing the guy had, but I started trying it and it actually works!
