Argh I can’t use this thread. Scotland HAD a language called Gaelic. But I can’t speak that because we all speak English here. Most people(myself included, when I am talking to other scots) speak a variant of English called Auld Scots and the posh people speak normal English. I have French class and I’m starting Spanish but I am S**T. I can’t do languages AT ALL, unfortunately

Welsh. I used to be more fluent but nowadays I only remember a few dozen words and am having trouble pronouncing my double-ll.
As in Llandegfan where I used to live.

Anyways to answer the question, I would probably pick one that would improve my job chances so Russian or Mandarin…probably Mandarin. It’s too much hassle/I can’t be bothered to teach them to myself/go to classes so it’d be handy to just instantly know it.
Although I think I might do a Chinese Language and Culture evening course next year so who knows the Mandarin-learning might become reality, even though I probably wouldn’t be able to say the tones correctly and they wouldn’t be able to understand me but you know one can hope….

Anybody doing a thesis in linguistics, there’s a good idea. Looking at ‘cut spelling’ and the ability of each age bracket to read it.
Can someone show it to a child ( Silly Girl does Little Girl want to take part in an experiment?) and see if they can read it.
I can read it, but it gives me a headache and stresses me out.

Tho it appears @AppleScruffJunior has been influenced by Apple (‘Let It Be ‘), Mark Lewisohn (‘Tune In’) and Paul (‘Archive’ series) in regards to when it is expected to see the light of day and be completed.

Offline Would ye believe me if I said, I’d have a chapter out for ye by the end of this week? I don’t have much planned and I only have about 6 pages left which would take me about an hour to do so it’s possible.
Damn life has me caught up, the only time I could work on it the majority of times would be from 10pm+ and by then I’m generally too tired to be translating Klaus’ weird metaphors.
I GUARANTEE IT WILL BE FINISHED BY AUGUST 2016.
I will be in Germany for 2-3 weeks in August and I have my entire mornings free so anything left of the book, I’ll finish then.
Once I have oral weeks done with my students (next week), I’ll launch into the book again just to appease ye 
.
