Also good albums with bad covers?
I can’t think of anything right now but maybe you can.

Hey the Space Oddity cover isn’t bad. It’s not mind-blowing or anything but it’s kind of dorky, kind of charming. His weird hair, that blue dots background, I think it’s a decent cover… The album is pretty bad tho.
Reality and Buddha of Suburbia are much worst covers.
And I’m a firm believer that Magical Mystery Tour is as weird as it is on purpose. Yeah, it isn’t that polished, but I like how… scary (?) it looks. Like, it’s not JUST corny with the animal suits and the weird yellow colour, but I think it represents kind of an uneasiness in songs like Blue Jay Way or I Am The Walrus because those animal costumes are kind of disturbing. I always thought it was intentional how low production and dirty it looked, considering the movie is like that.

Cosmos’ Factory (bland and kind of low-quality to me), Diamond Dogs (I literally cannot stand this cover it gives me absolute nightmares), Everybody’s in Showbiz (too busy), Hollywood’s Bleeding (I just feel like Post could’ve done better– it’s not bad just kind of disappointing I guess?), His ‘n’ Hers (creepy, hate it), Innuendo (I just hate clowns), Sheer Heart Attack (ugh)…..aaaaaand that’s all I can think of right now for album covers I don’t like.

Gotta disagree on the Kanye bear. I love that bear.
To answer the question, I’d have to point towards The Replacements, one of my favourite bands. Although the Let It Be cover is awesome,
Their other covers are… less appealing. I mean, the Hootenanny and Pleased To Meet Me ones are tolerable – if cheesy – at best,
But the cover to Tim is just horrifically ugly. Whose idea was this?
Note: please don’t let these monstrosities put you off listening to their music. It’s very good, I promise

Hmmm, maybe. I think it’s a pretty lame title as well, to be honest. They were easily cool enough to get away with it, mind.

Ugh, right? It’s an assault on the eyes and the sensibilities. I’m quite sensitive to clashing color combinations so maybe I’m being a bit snowflakey but OOF.

I’m a bit surprised no one’s mentioned The Next Day…
I agree that, while Space Odyssey is very good, the cover is awful. And Cloud Nine is kinda weird too.

The Next Day is a decent cover. I don’t know what it means but it isn’t ugly, it’s kind of a creative “reminiscing the past but still moving forward” kind of thing, probably.
I agree that, while Space Odyssey is very good, the cover is awful. And Cloud Nine is kinda weird too.
Why do people keep bringing Space Oddity up?, is an average cover at worst. It’s not great but… why does it bother people so much? I think it’s decent.
