It isn’t irrational. 0 is the freezing point of brine and 32 is water freezing.
32 is the most irrational thing. Why 32? 0 makes more sense?
Also brine is irrelevant.
Brine is consistent.
32 and 212 allow for a greater variance between standard encountered temperatures. Celsius would be better if boiling was 200 rather than 100 but you guys are so obsessed with your 10s that it will never improve.
Also, up north, it commonly gets below 0c so having something that more accounts to air temperature without negative numbers is a bonus.
And that zero isn’t consistent either.
If you can't log in and can't use the forum go here and someone will help you out.

Fahrenheit and Celsius both suck when compared to Kelvin, which goes up like Celsius but 0 is absolute 0, meaning there’s no such thing as negative Kelvin.
True, but such large numbers are annoying
Also, some of you have really interesting tastes in temperature, with THGF loving the heat and LPD loving the cold.
It’s not so much that, I’m just used to it after 17 years of being blasted with heat during summer. It’s all to do with acclimatisation.

I love how LPD is wearing shorts while Beatlebug is freezing
And @The Hole Got Fixed I agree that Celcius is more logical than Fahrenheit, but at the same time it’s a lot more convenient to say “It’s 66 degrees outside” than it is to say “It’s 18 1/3 degrees outside.”

Well obviously we don’t say 18 1/3 degrees
We round to 18, very occasionally we might say ‘and a half’ if we want to be really accurate

Not really
But it’s to do with preference really.
I’m used to Celsius, and science uses Celsuis and/or Kelvin (which is basically the same), so I’m naturally going to argue for Celsius

Fair enough. Replace “Celcius” with “Fahrenheit” (and take out the science part) and that’s me.
DO may have a point with Kelvins though, it’s kind of the best of both worlds. And simultaneously the worst of both worlds, because no one is really used to it

Exactly. Southerners like Holey and I have to get used to heat or perish.

YES!
Southern humidity is slightly infamous, mostly in the South but also among anyone who’s ever visited any time from May to September.

It’s a bit of an art form, developed out of survival instincts: we’re very proud of it. Slow down and embrace it, and it becomes a friend.
Also, air-conditioning.

He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

It’s been hideously humid here too.
Can’t do anything about it though, I guess, excerpt air conditioning.
