I have discovered, however, that if you give cat fish, they don’t care what you sing, they’re too busy licking lips and falling asleep. Time to pull out the ukulele!

Have you once cried (even though you didn’t feel like crying) just because a song was so beautiful?
To me, this has only happened with one song so far which was My Sweet Lord . This song is so full of hope, so relieving, so full of love, I still tear up occasionally, when I hear it because it’s so utterly beautiful.

Its happened before with Real Love . I couldn’t tell if I was also feeling emotional because of John being dead.

My most common reaction to music being beautiful or ridiculously nasty is to laugh. So many songs on Pet Sounds make me laugh at the genius of the melody lines or a certain intrument part. I’ll also be laughing at live shows that are really good.

Once. I was 10, my great-grandmother’s funeral had just finished ( she was 99), it was 42C that day, and we’d driven for 4 hours to get back home. My dad played Eleanor Rigby , and I cried. I didn’t listen to that song again for at least a year or two.

Yes, I know that feeling too well! Sometimes, I’d also stand up and say things like ‘yeah’ loudly which must look ridiculous from an outsiders perspective. But if the music is too good I can’t help it.

What a sad story, I’m sorry to hear that. Now, I’m even more in awe of your incredible cover of this song!

I really don’t know and/or really can’t remember. Usually when I cry when listening to a song, it’s either because it’s making me emotional, or because it’s beautiful and making me emotional; there’s almost always some sort of emotional attachment.

I don’t actually cry much, but the utter sublimity and perfection of ‘Echoes’ has given me some pretty hard soul-aches.

Find a common interest. Be it a particular skill you both have, or a sport you both like, there will always be something!
So, who are you trying to make friends with?

What’s your best advice for trying to become friends with someone, that has worked for you in the past?
I don’t have any advice here. I actually just moved a month or two ago, so I don’t have any friends in this town yet. I also haven’t been in school for two years and my line of work generally doesn’t involve interacting with people face-to-face.
I actually came here because I have a question.
We all know that Starr Shine? dislikes the Listening thread. Are there any threads that you generally avoid?
Here are mine:
-Beatles-based Text Adventure – because it’s not fun to look at unless you’re playing in the current round.
-Queen – because I don’t like Queen’s music.
-Beatles Biscuit Kinda Mafia – see Beatles-based Text Adventure

Apologies, but I have no idea how to answer this!

Rest in peace – For obvious reasons. I hate it when it shows up on the ‘recently updated threads’, but always end up going there in the end by curiosity.
Philosophy – I don’t know what political stance I should be taking ATM and because I’m only 15, probably won’t keep my viewpoints straight or they’ll be extremely stupid.
Biscuit Mafia and Hangman – These two threads seem to move way too fast for my liking to participate in.

Shouldn’t you let WAC’s question run its course and then ask your question, @Necko?
Anyway, my answer to your question:
Led Zeppelin- I don’t particularly dig their music, so I’ve no reason to go there.
David Bowie – See above.
Albums you’ve bought recently – everyone here should own all Beatles albums anyway!

A unique question that I thought might be interesting (maybe):What’s your best advice for trying to become friends with someone, that has worked for you in the past?
This may sound a little awkward now but often it helps to just start talking. One could, for example, start an innocent conversation about homework or teachers if one is in the same class or about joint interests which has been indicated before. And once you’ve started talking, it gets apparent very soon whether it fits or not, at least that’s been my experience so far. With some people, it just didn’t get any further than small talk and being polite but distant. But if you click with somebody, you will notice it, I swear. The conversation will feel comfortable then and you will find that there is no need to be overly polite all the time. So my advice is just to start talking and see whether it feels right and if it does, it will develop from alone! Hope this helped a bit.

Thanks very very much for the answers! It’s very helpful getting some advice from people who are similar to me (fellow Beatles fans, of course).

As for Necko’s question, I always avoid the Current Events thread. It usually just makes me upset.
