Quick look to your left, what’s there?
Some untidy bookshelves and a ukulele. We moved house in February and we’ve been having a cull – we have fewer shelves than in our old house, and we’re a bit fed up with carting books from house to house, particularly if we’re unlikely to read them again. This is midway through the sort-out.
The Beatles books are at the bottom. I’ve got a couple more boxes I haven’t sorted out yet, and I’m already starting to put two rows of books to a shelf. That’s a signed George Martin pic up above.
Edit: and on the right. DrBeatle might spot something familiar next to the red binders…
My study is a mess. It’s the shabbiest room in the house.

I’ve been doing it for over 14 years, so yeah. I get to write, delegate, make websites, experiment, play on the internet and have enough time to drop by here. My employer actually encourages us to be active on social media, and nothing is blocked. The people I work with are mostly OK but I get to put my headphones on and live online from 9.30-5.30, which suits me just fine (antisocial introvert).

You approve of my signature then?

I was in Corsica last year as well
Edit: Your bookshelves are basically the same as my bookshelf. ‘Middlesex’ is on my ‘To-Read’ list just picked up ‘The Virgin Suicides’ today from the library

@Joe, I think you need a librarian to drop by your house for a while to help you get those books organised

Ooh, Margaret Atwood, awesome! Love her – The Edible Woman is one of my top fifteen all time favourites.
Ahhh Girl, why not wait until Joe’s own book is among the jumble?
As I’ve said before, my job is like doing the world’s 7812th most interesting videogame. But they pay me, and I have several hours a day free to cruise websites that aren’t blocked (like Facebook, Youtube, and anything for personal storage) and wear headphones. Or play stuff on Windows Media Player loud enough to annoy (or ideally, captivate) anybody standing at my desk.
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

Annadog40: Very observant! But we share clothing sometimes.
(Actually did try to maintain the work-home separation between the two accounts for a few months until I got lazy)
What was the last/worst actual real law you broke? (Even counting something like jaywalking or littering or texting-while-driving or something. “I have never broken any laws at all” is an acceptable answer if true)

That is one train of thought. Then I could get my copy signed by the author.
But, by that time, he may have the books on his bookshelves all sorted and tidy, so that reason (excuse) for me popping over to help him out would be gone. Can you think of another good excuse (oops, I mean perfectly good reason) I can use to invite myself over to Joe’s place?

The novels are mostly Ellie’s. She’s a proper bookworm. I tend to mostly read Beatles books and other non-fiction, and generally save novels for holidays. I did an English literature degree and it took me a long time to recover. I only recently threw out (gave to the library) my Chaucer and Pynchon after deciding I never want to read them again!
So yeah, the Rowling and Atwoods are Ellie’s, as is Middlesex. I think the only Atwood I’ve read is The Edible Woman . My fiction is mostly Joyce, Wilde, John Fowles, Fitzgerald and other random things, mostly on the Kindle nowadays. I’ve only read the first Harry Potter; it was OK but not really for me.

I did 60 in a 40 zone this morning. Before that, online piracy. The worst one? Probably taking class A drugs (years ago). I tend to think I live within the law but it’s very easy to break minor laws all the time.

I guess I lied… I’ve done that too, but never torrents or anything big, just a few songs from YouTube videos
