For an account to be destroyed is when it is deleted. When an account is banned on other sites, they are stuck on the ‘you are banned’ view of the site and can’t log out so they are stuck there.
When you’re banned on this site you can log out and log in and read all the posts, you just can’t vote in polls or comment in any of the threads or PM people, or really do anything other than read posts.
That seems strange since the banned party could just make another account.

I’ve notice that a lot more earlier accounts are guests than later ones. Has Joe changed how he deals with making users guests?
So if Joe is on vacation and there is a spammer, is the only thing a mod able do is delete their spam posts?

Same here – for mine there is just no energy or excitement in any of it. The songs sound flat to me – as do the vocals.
It also doesn’t help that I learned there was this murder in the States and this was the murderer’s favorite song. (Then again, I could never mind Helter Skelter … Biases are strange.)

But then If Joe was gone for a month or something, wouldn’t the spam over run the forum? If you elect mods you have to give them some sort of spam killing abilities in case Joe goes away. Holding things at bay would only work so long…

Yes, we only hold spammers at bay. Joe put the mechanism in place where a mod has to approve a post from a new account before it can be read by everyone. That makes holding them at bay pretty easy for us.
Be thankful you all don’t have to endure reading all the stuff spammers try to sell.

Offline I just saw @Evangeline’s post. Really, holding them off isn’t hard since mods have to approve their first post. It is easy to just report and delete the posts. If all heck is breaking loose, I can call Joe or send him a text and beg for help. Also, I’m friends with Ellie on Facebook. I can send her a FB message and ask her to get Joe if things get really rough.

If a spammer’s first post is approved, but a mod decides that post or another one from the person shouldn’t be public, we can put it under moderation. We can put any post under moderation and ask Joe to decide whether to delete it or “re”-approve it.
