I’ve always figured that a ban was to destroy an account. Suspension sounds like it might be reversible. (Take with a salt grain).

I believe a ban is permanent, with the suspensions you can set when they end.

For an account to be destroyed is when it is deleted. When an account is banned on other sites, they are stuck on the ‘you are banned’ view of the site and can’t log out so they are stuck there.

For an account to be destroyed is when it is deleted. When an account is banned on other sites, they are stuck on the ‘you are banned’ view of the site and can’t log out so they are stuck there.
When you’re banned on this site you can log out and log in and read all the posts, you just can’t vote in polls or comment in any of the threads or PM people, or really do anything other than read posts.

Offline Believe you me, @Joe is long-suffering and patient and kind. The mods have wanted to ban people before, but Joe took a cool-headed approach and dealt with it other ways. If you piss Joe off, then you know you’ve been really, really bad…terrible bad…horrid bad.
The mod tool bar used to have icon for us to use to warn, suspend, and ban users. After ASJ had me send her a warning and then her account messed up, the mods and Joe thought it best to take those icons off the mod tool bar. If someone gets booted off, it will be Joe’s doing. And again I reiterate, you’d have to be a real a**hole for Joe to act on your account.
