I remember thinking that Maxwell’s Silver Hammer was a fun song.

I think it was Yesterday which I spent a week or two obsessed with, or Please Mister Postman and Anna (Go To Him) which I thought were cool but I didn’t care much about them.

What was the first Beatles song you remember hearing, and what was your initial thought when you heard it?
Silly Dad used to sing I Will and Till There Was You to me as bedtime lullabies when I was very very small, though I didn’t know they were Beatles songs till I was about eight. I discovered the Yellow Submarine Songtrack around that time– I think Hey Bulldog was the first Beatles song I really got into– and, as I’ve proudly explained many times all over the forum, I was also brainwashed with Brainwashed as a small child. I remember thinking Any Road was fun because I liked the wordplay of ‘If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will take you there’. (In some ways, I haven’t changed much since I was three. I still love that line.)

She Loves You was the first one I believe. I heard it on some website when I was 6 with a whole bunch of other 60s songs and my dad heard me listening to it and got out his ‘1’ album. We didn’t have any of the studio albums so I was stuck listening to just that constantly until 2009…
Obviously, I liked it a lot.

No idea. My parents had Beatles cassettes, LP’s and one 45″ and we had free reign to play them; just part of our growing up.
We were always careful tho – no scratches on the vinyl.

Love Me Do on the radio in Wales and I liked it.
It wasn’t easy listening to ‘pop’ in the UK back then, until Radio Caroline got going a year or two later.

Though as you’d expect I’m very fond of George’s singing, but I have to admit he wasn’t nearly as versatile as Paul. I also Dave Gilmour and Rick Wright singing together.

Your favourite vocalist?
I love John’s voice, even if he didn’t have the widest range or was “trained.” His tone quality is the best and he could honestly have sung about a toaster and it would be exciting. There aren’t many people who really mean what they’re singing and also do a good job.
Steve Perry comes in second after John. Beautiful tenor voice.
Only music can save us.

Definitely Paul, he can go from a heart-aching wail to a beautiful calm soul touching croon.
I mean, John can sing well, but I can’t imagine him singing a beautiful love song, his voice wasn’t made for that. While McCartney can sing anywhere from Helter Skelter to Blackbird or Yesterday .

Sarcasm much? He can sing love songs but his voice doesn’t really have much of an emotional grab for me. Like Dylan, his voice seems too rough for those kind of songs.

^ Sarcasm doesn’t read well on the internet. You have to use italics or something like:
I mean it’s not as if John could sing love songs, come on who are we kidding here?
^ That still reads a bit twatty but anyways, another good rule is:
When in doubt, put in a winky face at the end of the sentence
I mean it’s not as if John could sing love songs, come on who are we kidding here?
^There we go instant sarcasm’s (gonna get you).
