Von BonteeI've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

Of those listed, The Who are probably my favorite besides the Beatles.
I’m not that huge on The Who myself. I love a great deal of their songs and a few of their albums but something about them that I can’t put my finger on bugs me.

I think that the Stones and The Who are both better than Led Zeppelin. The Rolling Stones write much better songs, and the Who play better IMO. Also I don’t think Zeppelin has one album that competes with Tommy, Quadrophenia, Whos Next, Sticky Fingers, Exile, or Let It Bleed.
This is some of my favorite ever Rock & Roll. So pure and unadultered.

You got this from the official list? Sure they are a newer band than the kinks or dave clark 5, but I consider them to definetly be a part of the movement and influence, even if it came a couple of years later.

Although i don’t dispute them not being a part of the height of the British Invasion.
They’re a part of it in the same way Reconstruction is an essentail part of Civil War history.

In a word, @sir walter raleigh, yes.
The term “British Invasion” refers to a specific period, 1964-65, and the bands and artists who were a part of the first wave of British acts to break the American market.
It is a well defined term, and the artists involved in it are easily identifiable by the time frame.
Yes, Zeppelin are a British band who conquered America, but they came after the period identified historically as the “British Invasion”.

Read my above post which added to the notion of Led Zeppelin being a part of it. You are right about the time period no doubt. No dispute there.

It still makes them a post-British Invasion band, who grew out of the ashes of a British Invasion band – The Yardbirds; just as the reconstruction following the Civil War was, by definition, post-Civil War.
The latest you can push the British Invasion is 1966. An act formed in 1968 is just too late to be considered a part of it.

exactly the point of my amendment. No Zeppelin is not a part of it but I think there is a flaw in leaving them out of the discusion entirely. Same as with Reconstruction.
But I digress. I love all of the bands a lot except for The Kinks and Dave Clark 5, as I’ve never really been a fan of their style.
My above comments about Zeppelin, The Who and The Stones in no way reflects a negative opinion of Led Zeppelin.

Led Zep aren’t British Invasion, but IV is better than all those albums IMO
