Happy Birthday , Yoko Ono.note to self: offer to organize all these various birthday threads
fabfouremily said
Hmm.. yeah, they’re are quite a few. Most of them for members that don’t come one here, anymore.
*raises hand*
Guilty – most of them were started by me. During my youthfully exuberant early Forum days (oh, to be 46 again!) I thought it would be nice to wish each member a happy birthday – it sorta got out of hand when I started a birthday thread for my wife’s horse (no, he is not a member of the Forum). Then, Joe suggested we have just one thread for all and that’s how this thread got started.
I stopped doing it after a while because every time I got an Outlook reminder (oh yeah, I kept track) to wish so-and-so a happy one, they were no longer posting.
Happy belated birthday to Yoko.
Happy birthday to my mum, today!!
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

The thing says two of my posts got moved here, what would those have been? Were they the George Martin posts? Hmm.. I thought that was originally here. Guess not.
They were in a thread that was titled “Happy Birthday “. I saw them. They live happily here now with all the other warm and fuzzy birthday wishes.

Ah, wondered why some posts from 2 months ago were being moved now. OK, thanks.

Speaking for myself, no problem with forumites birthdays being consolidated, but I do not believe birthday wishes to people like Yoko, George Martin, etc, should be here, and I will be starting new threads for them next time around. If I look back through this, which I haven’t yet, will I find John, Paul, George and Ringo threads have been folded into this?
Birthday greetings to people who use the site being in one thread makes sense, burying those who played parts in the story is, and would be, silly.

I understand where you are coming from mja, but is it really so important that they each have a separate thread?
AG, have you merged every one of the birthday threads? Perhaps we could have one for forum people and one for Beatle-people?

The birthday threads for each of the Fab Four are still in place. I didn’t touch them. I’m not sure if we will do any merging with them. We will let you know.

Spotted elsewhere that its Parlance’s birthday today (despite the thing at the bottom saying it was “upcoming”).
So happy birthday Parlance. Hope you have a great day and enjoy it to the full.

I woke up all happy this morning thinking that I would be wishing @parlance a happy birthday today from seeing the date somewhere in a thread once. When I saw that the birthday notification still said “upcoming” I felt a bit deflated wondering how I had gotten the date wrong and figured I’d have to wait until tomorrow to send wishes to you.
No waiting! Today is the day!
Happy Birthday , parlance!!!

Thanks, everyone! It was low-key but very nice. I went to a TV show taping with a friend and then we had dinner (with dessert, complete with a candle, because I have to have my one wish), and a friend gave me a Beatley e-book. The bigger celebration will be next week to see the Wings tribute band.
BTW, my birthday is now listed below as today. Guess it’s set for a very late time zone? Maybe it’ll still be there part of tomorrow.

The server timezone is set to London. You can edit your own timezone by going to Profile, then clicking on the Options tab, then Edit Display Options. Can you go in there and make sure your info is correct for your location? Also, if you haven’t already, double-check you put your birthday in correctly. I know, basic advice but still worth mentioning.

I would really rather have just one thread for all birthday wishes. While it’s nice to say “Happy birthday Pete Best!”, I don’t think it really deserves being anywhere but the Birthday Topic. And hey, if Beatle people are being celebrated along with forumites, isn’t that a good thing?
It’s not really burying anything, it’s making it findable and logical so people don’t start dozens of threads which are essentially for the same purpose.
I guess the exceptions are where there are particular celebrations or tributes for John, Paul, George and Ringo. A good example is all the Lennon 70th stuff that happened in 2010. But even most of that would work perfectly well in this thread, x-posted to news etc.

It’s my birthday on the 10th, so I’m going to Liverpool for a tour round the houses and then off to a vintage clothing fair to get me some more clothes. My mum’s making me a cake with the design of Help !, I’ll post pics when she’s finished.
"White Album - My joint-fave Beatles album along with Revolver. They show the two sides of Beatles. Revolver's very controlled - even though it's also very innovative. The White Album's playful and almost ramshackle. It's like a scrapbook kept by a genius. Fantastic stuff."
