Love that shirt. @sigh butterfly sent me one last year that I ordered from the internet but I lost it in a cabin fire.

I remember you telling us about that fire. Have you recovered mentally and materially?

Yes. Thanks for asking. There was a lot of stuff that i didn’t even try to replace due to the sentimental value but I was able to buy everything I needed for the rest of the summer as well as a new guitar with the help of camp’s insurance.
Funny thing about the guitar, i’d used the 1000$ i’d gotten from my grandfather after he died on a brand new Martin, which was in the cabin during the fire. When I went to replace it, I discovered that the guitar model is out of production, and the ‘new version’ of that model was about 500$ more expensive, so I was able to get a 1500$ evaluation for my guitar. I ended up buying a different one that I liked better for a similar price. Then, a few weeks ago I walk into the guitarshop and my new guitar is on sale for 2000$. It doesn’t mean as much to me because of the whole grampa’s inheritance thing, but I do have a much nice guitar.

It’s the only way, I’m shocked it isn’t correct English. I always have to be weary of myself when I’m around people whose first language isn’t English because I don’t want them picking up Hiberno-English, ya* know, boss?
*There’s another one, say ‘you’, instead of ‘ya’.
For you non-Irish people what do you say for ‘I am not’- surely you don’t actually say that? Such a long drawn out form when ‘amn’t rolls so nicely.
Edit: I guess “I’m not” would be the proper English way, “amn’t” is still better and it has its own Wiki page 😀

I assure you that ‘amn’t’ is indeed part of my everyday language. I suppose the Southern this side of the pond (vonbontee is right, it’s not restricted to the South, though it’s particularly well-used down here) catch-all equivalent would be ‘ain’t’, which also works for ‘isn’t’ and ‘aren’t’ because it ain’t grammatical.
Anyway… HAPPY BIRTHAVERSARY YA STUPID GET @sir walter raleigh (<- that looks much funnier in my post editor)!!! Glad to hear you’ve recovered from the fire pretty well, when I heard your guitar was lost I almost did a Robert Plant wail* of despair.
*I’ve been listening to Led Zeppelin for like two hours straight. Because …
HAPPY BIRTHAVERSARY to the one and only guitar/studio wizard JAMES PATRICK PAAAAAAAGGGEEE!!!! Without whom my life would be far quieter and we probably wouldn’t even be talking about Robert Plant. May he have many more before Satan comes to collect his due.

Happy birthday to my oftentime favourite drummer*, Nick Mason of Pink Floyd Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets.
*Utterly sacrilegious for a Beatles and Zeppelin fan to choose Mason over Starr and Bonham, I know. I’m sorry.

As @The Hole Got Fixed kindly reminded elsewhere earlier in the week, it’s William Shears Campbell’s birthday on Monday, the last while he’s away on his Mission.
Should anyone want to send him birthday greetings, please go here and either thank the post, or add a post in that thread if you have anything specific you want to say.
I will be sending him a Fab Forum birthday email late Sunday (UK time) so he has it when he has his weekly day of internet access on Monday.
It’s good the his internet day coincides with his birthday this year.

Awww thanks, I think we’re going have a big Christmas Dinner Part 2 on Sunday to celebrate and my mam is going making a Bailey’s and Maltesers’ cheesecake because she is the living definition of a legend.
My birthday gift was 2 family packs of Cheetos Puffs and Cheetos Flamin’ Hot that my mam got in Northern Ireland for me.
People talk about the return of war if the physical border comes back between Norn. Ireland and the Republic, my biggest fear is not being able to get Cheetos!
