I know it’s a Beatle forum but still. I feel comfortable and more experienced on this forum.
Anyways, I have here the two different issues of Cold Spring Harbor, 1971 Family Productions (pitch corrected) and 1983 Columbia Records. I want to know your opinion on which songs from which issue are the superior mixes.
To start, the 1973 mix of Tomorrow is Today is definitely better. And Why Judy Why is mixed better on the 1973 mix. Your thoughts?
Remember: I mean 1973 when it’s pitch corrected.
If you don’t have the album(s) and want to give your opinion, here are the download links.

Never heard this album, Strawberry; but was wondering have you ever heard Attila?

What a coincidence, I was just researching Attila last night. I don’t understand why people have said it’s one of the worst albums ever recorded. Even Billy himself said it’s crap. I like it, it’s not his best work, but it’s ok.
I highly recommend you listen to Cold Spring Harbor, Vonbontee. I think it was the next thing Billy Joel did after Attila.

Is “Cold Spring Harbour” similar to his early Columbia albums? I’m not a huge Billy Joel fan – I mostly just know the hits and his 1977-1980 albums. But I think that Attila album is hilarious, a one-of-a-kind weirdo masterpiece of sorts!

Vonbontee, you’ll have to just take my word for it. It is great. And because of what this post is about, I recommend the original version (at the correct speed). It’s hard to find, almost impossible, so I will give both versions to you. Please tell me if the links don’t work.
Original (recommended):
Reissue (common):

I personally love this album. I really want the pitch error version, just because that’s how the album was originally mastered. I have both the reissue and the pitch corrected original version. As for which one is better, I prefer the original version just because I’m a purist. Also the original versions sound much more hand made whereas the reissue remixes sound more factory made(I think that’s a good way to describe it).
PS: Just an FYI neither of the links work anymore.

Yeah I understand, its just that the rule came into being after the original post was made. There is no problem we just have to be consistent with the rule so a) no link is posted on the forum happens to be a harmful (I downloaded some of The Strawberry’s files at the time and am in no way suggesting he ever did, its just that others might post viruses or links to sites that do without their knowledge) and b) Joe doesn’t get held accountable for holding links to material that could be in breach of copyright laws.
