I just wondered, did any of the beatles comment on the awesomeness of this song? Links please.

Can't think of anything. The post-breakup Beatles always seemed kind of aloof and removed from much of the then-contemporary music scene.
Paul did mention Jimmy Page in Wings' “Rock Show” though! The lyric goes “What's that man moving across the stage/It looks a lot like the one used by Jimmy Page”, and I've always assumed Paul was referring to Page's double-neck Gibson, and I believe Page usually used that guitar to play “Stairway” onstage. So there's that.

Offline I can't think of any comments either, and I figure that most interviewers would be asking about a possible reunion rather than what they thought x. I'll keep an eye out.
