There are a ton of musical acts and songs that are heavily associated with their country, here in Scotland the The Proclaimers “500 Miles’ and Caledonia by Frankie Millar would be two (but both irritate me).
So what are the songs that remind you of your country and bring a feeling of home and passion when you hear it no matter where you are?
For me it would be
Irish Heartbeat by Billy Connolly (i know, i know, its called Irish Heatbeat but thanks to Billy’s tv series World Tour of Scotland its been adopted by many a Scot)
Wild Mountain Thyme by The Silencers
Loch Lomond by Runrig
And anyone playing the bagpipes properly.

Can I say The Beatles, or is that too easy aha? Because they do make me feel patriotic!
I think it's great you're going through a phase,
and I'm awfully glad it'll all be over in a couple

But seriously folks…even though there are a ton of songs written about New York State , there is not one that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy about home.
As for songs written about Scotland or places within it, I absolutely love Mull Of Kintyre .
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

You know, it’s funny – this thread was created the exact day I delivered a geography presentation on North Carolina, based on the concept of song from an area (James Taylor’s Carolina in My Mind). Probably, however, the song of home for me is not a patriotic song, or chest-pumping “Ra-Ra Canada” hit. It’s Neil Young, Southern Man. Because nothing is as Canadian as looking at the stupidity of Americans and calling them out for it.
(Second place: Bad Timing – Blue Rodeo. Has the man coming from way up north, which, considering my Uncle works in the Northwest Territories, means something.)
As if it matters how a man falls down.'

“This Land Is Your Land”
A wonderful song celebrating the beauty of the land.
