Yesssssss!!!! Those, and ‘Gypsy’ and ‘Sara’…. the most beautiful songs in the world.
ah yes indeed…
I heard them both before, but upon revisiting them, I shall now be obsessed with them… mostly “Gypsy” as ’tis a magic spell

I’ve been loving Phil Ochs way too much this past week…..
….There are many others, of course…..
A great American songwriter– one of the best, most gorgeous poets there ever was. Taken from this world way too soon, way too young….

The guitar solo at the end is a little slice of heaven.

Beatlebug, BeatlebugI've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

Someone mentioned the Southern Cross this morning and so now I have been listening to this on repeat off and on ever since.
I have my ship and all her flags are a-flyin’
She is all I have left and music is her name

Digging the CSN and Gene Clark appreciation here. On Phil Ochs, I’ll admit I checked out a few songs of his about a few months ago out of curiosity, but admittedly didn’t enjoy them much as I found I was in the wrong mood at the time (too happy ) for what I was hearing. The ones @lovelyritametermaid posted are nice though, so maybe I’ll revisit him at some point.

Separate post because this is more Beatley – so after being obviously aware of their names and their connection to Paul for several years, I finally decided to get into Peter and Gordon’s music the other day and they’re great! Checked out a mixture of their hits and some album tracks and I have to say this here which was one of the songs written by our Macca for them is probably my favourite, as well as one of the most beautiful things ever written and recorded!
Some of my other favourite songs of theirs include Lady Godiva, To Show I Love You, I Feel Like Going Out and Never Ever.

Yes, good idea beatlebug. I’m splitting up my musical afternoon selections between Schwarzewolke and Stevie. She has a lot of cool songs on the Mac’s Tusk album.
So I close my eyes softly
‘Til I become that part of the wind
That we all long for sometime, yeah
And to those that I love, like a ghost through a fog
Like a charmed hour and a haunted song
And the angel of my dreams

According to George, this song was the “point of origin” for Sun King .

Aw yeah that’s a good one! The only early Fleetwood song I know, I’m afraid, hehe, but I listened to it long ago because of the Beatles connection.
Thanks to your mention, of course, I am on a “Storms” kick right now…
