I’ve been watching Twin Peaks for the first time lately, so I’m currently obsessed with a few pieces from the soundtrack, particularly the theme tune and ‘Dance of the Dream Man’.
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

The Fall really are the kind of group who’s music you can’t stand at first and then two weeks later find yourself completely obsessed with. Something about Mark E. Smith’s style has me completely hooked right now.
Also, I just learned from the Youtube comments that they played this at their Motown Records audition… unbeatable.

……yeah…..I still enjoy Hex and “The Classical”, but *that* one lyric is really cringeworthy. It was questionable even in 1982, and pretty indefensible nowadays. There were better ways to be provocative.
Probably still my favourite Def Leppard song…I dunno, just something irresistibly catchy about it
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Have been loving Si Tu Vois Ma Mère from the lush opening sequence of Midnight in Paris. Perfect easy Sunday listening.
The rest of the film is not actually as good as this initial 3 minutes imo. Big ideas executed with some beautiful cinematography, but all spoiled by unrelatable characters and wooden dialogue.
I think it's great you're going through a phase,

Everything and anything from Beatles Anthology. Can’t get enough of the demos. I probably listen to them more than the official releases these days.

Wonderful, fantastically funny fable set in the animal kingdom. (Dunno if it’s intended to be a political allegory in any way…) Dig how Chuck’s guitar and Fred Below’s drums provide illustrative sound effects. Pixar or Disney or whoever should create an accompanying animated video!
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

I’ve been really digging “Dreams”, “Landslide”, and “Rhiannon” by Fleetwood Mac lately… just can’t get enough of Stevie Nicks’s husky voice and also “An Occasional Dream” (a longtime favorite) and “Cygnet Committee” (it just seems so relevant to today’s world) by David Bowie.
