I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

I’ve also been listening to the Zabriskie Point outtakes on shuffle for a couple days now and have somehow managed to listen to this one in particular a ridiculously high number of times today

Side note: I am shocked at how different our rankings are, “The Blacker the Berry” and “Complexion (A Zulu Love)” deserves more credit. Also, to me, a number beyond 6/10 is ‘good’ to me.

Yeah yeah, 6/10 = good, 5/10 = “I dunno…”, 4/10 = bad.
Partially I think it has to do with a cultural quality. I don’t know where you’re from but I’m Latin American. There is no black people or black culture nowhere near me, so the lyrics on some songs like U or Blacker the Berry kind of fly right by me. Not that I can’t appreciate them objectively, but they don’t speak to me at all. So I am reduced to appreciating instrumentals in hip hop more than anything else. You Ain’t Gotta Lie sonically is the most sugary, melted, soulful thing in the album. The Blacker the Berry is rough and impulsive, but repetitive overall. Complexion instrumentally is original but very flawed and uncertain, not to mention that song is looong. Momma has my favourite piece of lyric in the album for me which is the “I know everything” verse, has the best punchline in the entire album, not to mention that excellent instrumental breakdown at the end. And the disjointed, cavernal instrumental is so good damn loose and freaky I love it madly.
And give For Sale a chance. That lyrical moment when he speaks from Lucy’s perspective is straight Fire and the instrumental is so particular, I love that Interlude. Also what are your 10 songs above 9.5/10?

Twas hard to finish those last seasons wasn’t it
I do have a sentimental attachment to the show, but from a more objective standpoint dear god the later seasons are so bad. I think the final season redeemed itself in the last few episodes, but before that it got so tiring how repetitive and unfunny the jokes were. Also, while it is set in the 70s, the constant racism against Fez and creepy sexualisation of the female characters is reaally uncomfortable to watch at times.
My TPAB ranking:
16. Momma
15. You Ain’t Gotta Lie (Momma Said)
14. Hood Politics
13. How Much A Dollar Cost
12. Complexion (A Zulu Love)
11. For Sale?
10. Institutionalised
9. U
8. For Free?
7. The Blacker The Berry
6. King Kunta
5. Wesley’s Theory
4. These Walls

Duuuuuuuuudeeee those verses are so goooooddaaaaqqoksk
The instrumental is breathtaking, lo-fi magic with a unique texture to it and the way Kendrick stumbles upon his rhyme scheme with no strict rhythm is absolutely fantastic. It is so laid back but also so fulfilling and otherworldly.
Soooo it seeeeeeeeeeems
Ugh
I really wasn’t expecting for it to land on both your bottom lists, I’m so confused and angry and sad
