Is it?!?
No, just some country’s a***hole president declaring it is as he pulls his troops out and his defense secretary quits in objection, along with others who know more than he does…

I fully support bringing the troops home.
Though bringing them home too soon (as many in the military and on the Hill seem to think) is a mistake that costs civilian lives and puts in place the return to the situation because the security has disintegrated to the degree it again threatens your own security… stupid to involve yourself properly in the first place when you can pulling out only to have to go back when things are worse again because you pulled out when it was as easy to go back as go forward…
It’s a choice a string of American Presidents have made since 1990 as they fervently prayer they won’t be the stupid sod who withdraws only to have put more troops in to clean up the mess you — and we, quite possibly them as well, and don’t forget *pointy finger* those lurking — left behind…
But let’s go back when it’s a shitessturm and will cost more lives because an a***hole stuck his head up his a***hole when everyone went NO-O-O-O and he prayed the shitessturm would hold off until the next President.
Just like climate change…

Don’t even get me started on climate change.
Oh, geez, it’s just so sad. We’re not just hurting wildlife (don’t get me wrong, that is bad enough!), we’re hurting ourselves.

Yet there are some idiots (coughtrumpcough) who won’t even refuse to accept that it is real. Once in history last year the teacher wrote a bunch of issues on the board (racism, sexism, war, etc) and had us all choose the one that we were most concerned about, and I was the only one in the class to choose environmental issues. People don’t realize just how bad the situation is. And there are ways to fix it, to make it better, but people are too obsessed with money to actually make an effort.

War and climate change are my two biggest issues because they hurt life so much. If people could just realize that we’re not going to have a planet if we don’t do something, and do something, it’s gonna be bad. The extreme weather events are already taking a turn for the worst, hurricanes just get bigger and more damaging every year.

There’s a Calvin and Hobbes comic strip that I love…
…and I just realized that this is not in fact the philosophy thread. Perhaps we should take our conversation elsewhere? And to stay on topic, I’ve been getting into the White Album again recently and I’m kinda obsessed with blackbird.

Ooh, I just got the 50th anniversary vinyl four LP esher demos thing… (hope i got that right!). I’m listening to it rn, and it never ceases to amaze me how much better things sound on vinyl.
EDIT: Oh, yeah, we should take this to the philosophy thread, another successful derailing!

I own around 5000 CDs… erm… 7 or so hundred vinyl albums… couple of thousand 12″ singles… roughly the same 7″s… couple of thousand cassettes (most home recordings that feature at least two albums)…
erm… some music DVDs…
then there’s bootlegs…
and the external 2TB external drive that has just over 92,464 mp3s on it and isn’t even half-full yet…
FECK!!!! Got a bit of music…

. . . I have a bunch of random songs and albums from my parents’ music collections on my phone… I have the Live At The BBC albums sitting on my desk, but they’re not mine, they’re my dad’s… technically I don’t own any music.
I feel horrible and depressed now.

AW don’t be depressed! It doesn’t matter what you own, it’s music! It transcends ownership. Still, you should save up, buy a turntable, and a few records! it’s worth the cost!
