Thanks for sharing @Beatleva, I never heard that song before. Powerful lyrics about loss, especially the end
“For the waves are all around my small canoe/I had always hoped this boat could carry two”.
I wonder if he wrote this song (with a little more hopeful lyrics) for the same person.

I agree, he is a great talent and sings with a lot of soul. He still tours here (US) and in Europe so maybe you can catch his show sometime. I have several of Don’s CDs and I think one contains some rarities. If anything looks of special interest I’ll upload it to youtube and let you know.

I’ve been listening to When We Was Fab alot recently, as I posted to the What song are you listening to right now thread. I also have been listening to One After 909 and Within You Without You much more than I used to

I’ve had these two in my head like crazy lately (just like lice). <snip>
You had the lice IN your head? That sounds alarming. You had best see someone about that. On your head is one thing, but in your head is a whole nuther…

I kinda can’t get enough of the Traveling Wilburys’ ‘Handle With Care’. I think I mostly love George in it though.
The music video is pretty awesome– they all look fab, not just George (pain me though it does to admit it). And George does this little dance at 2:55 while playing the slide guitar solo that’s just like in the Blow Away video.

I watched The Wall for the first time some days ago and I became badly obsessed with Comfortably Numb, it’s just too awesome. And I’ve also been on a big Pink Floyd kick lately (especially Obscured By Clouds and The Dark Side Of The Moon).

PINK FLOYD!
It’s funny how Beatles fans often share other non-Beatles music likes.

Thanks, SG, I forgot all about that little slice of perfection. Lynne, Petty, Orbison, Dylan and Harrison–can you imagine such talent all together at the same time? Wow.

Beatlebug, trcanberraI say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

Yeah, and when it comes to Pink Floyd it’s even better, considering the little coincidences between both bands, for example, they were present at the studio when The Beatles were recording Lovely Rita . It’s a shame they only watched because Lovely Rita is one of my favourite songs, and having Rick and the others Pink Floyd playing or something would have been cool.
