Not a specific song, per se, but I’ve been listening to Pink Floyd a lot lately. Mostly blasting it through earbuds, because I can do that now.

I was on a Pink Floyd kick pretty recently– my dad was getting me to teach him to play “Wish You Were Here” on guitar, and as a consequence of figuring it out for him, I got it stuck in my head for weeks and I really like it.
Right now, I’m wearing out Nosirrah Egroeg’s “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)”. Just purchased a capo so I can play it on guitar now.

I think I just fell in love with The Inner Light . It’s so weird and Indian and not my usual thing at all… yet I love it. Mostly George’s singing I think
EDIT: And also, I’m giving White Album its obligatory semi-annual listen, and I think Piggies is my new favourite off that album. It’s such a gleefully satirical song, nice simple yet fun arrangement, works well as a song about biscuits…
Second edit: And, of course, that bit at the end…. I’d listen to the whole album just to hear George go, ‘One more time?’ in that wonderfully Scousey way of his.
Along with my old favourites I Will and Martha My Dear and Long, Long, Long .

Lately, I can’t seem to get enough of early (1972-75) Steely Dan. I’ve always liked some of their songs, but now I appear to be hooked on quite a few of them. The two I am most often repeating are ‘Dirty Work’ and ‘Show Biz Kids’.
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

Lately I have been infatuated with the “New” Full stereo version of I Am The Walrus . How the heck was Apple not able to do this, yet someone was able to with the Rockband tracks.

I’m obsessed with George’s ‘Miss O’Dell’ right now. Discovered it yesterday through @AppleScruffJunior (thank you, ASJ, for turning me on to all kinds of wonderful Harrison) and I can’t get it out of me mind. There’s just something about it (entirely apart from George’s beautifully infectious drunken giggling). It’s sort of similar to ‘Apple Scruffs ‘– maybe that’s why I like it– only I think as a song, ‘Apple Scruffs ‘ is better, more complete. But I’ve already gotten obsessed with that one, and I’m sorta over it now (it’s been relegated to ‘I do love it’ instead of ‘I can’t get enough if it’).
Anyway… yeah… I listened to ‘Miss O’Dell’ a couple hundred times, learned the chords in about 5 minutes, and have been playing it ever since… the recording, on the guitar, in my head…

Paul Carrick has a great voice and plays in Clapton’s band these days. He’s been around for a while and played with Rutherford on ‘Living Years’
Bought Ace’s one hit wonder when it came out. It was always a cool song……….Pretty ‘fly’ for a white guy.

The song I’ve been taken with of late could conceivably trigger embarrassment to admit:
“Lowdown” by Boz Scaggs.
I used to like the song from afar, so to speak; I dug its vibe but I never bothered to spend time getting to know Boz Scaggs beyond that, and never bought any albums of his. Today, I finally realized it was the perfect song to jam along to on my acoustic guitar subbing as a makeshift bass — particularly because most of it is a repetition of “Treat Chords” — in perhaps my favorite key: Em7 to A7 (allowing for a lot of open string work with the open E bass and A bass to build upon).

Boz is better than a “commercial bubblegum pop artist” and I wouldn’t be embarassed to admit liking him. His voice has a unique, pleasing, bluesy timbre. And he was in the Steve Miller Band for years, which might make him a bit more “respectable” in some peoples’ eyes.
Ever since I watched the 2015 R&R HOF induction ceremony (notable for Ringo’s induction, but Lou Reed also made it), Lou’s song Vicious has been running through my head. Karen O. and the Yeah-Yeah-Yeahs cover it really well at the ceremony, and I find the chord progression in the chorus has a pleasant, natural sound. But the song is about a mean person (or, that’s the literal meaning of the title) – not a thick liquid person (note the misspelling of the youtube, which is incorrect whichever meaning you choose). Discogs lists a different, Ray Hurley song called “Viscious” – and it’s out on youtube under that spelling – despite the fact that a quick listen shows the song is “Vicious”, not “Viscous”). The picture of the Ray Hurley vinyl shows a blank white label, presumably if the person who posted it had something to read off of they would have gotten it right.
Proper spelling is a pet peeve of mine, especially with proper nouns. I don’t value judge people based on their ability to spell but I do take it into account when “assessing” that person (with intent to better understand, not judge, that person’s background & preconceptions). You can tell a lot about a person from the way they use language, from accent to word choice to colloquialisms to spelling and grammar. I have mixed feelings towards autocorrect – it can come up with funny errors but it comes up with a lot of misspellings and wrong words too.Tbh it frustrates the hell out of me on my phone sometimes.
Discogs’ credibility has gone way down in my eyes with this mistake right after @Pineapple Records found the site’s omission of Klaus Voorman’s bass credits on the 1973 Ringo album (that omission being of course much more serious than the misspelling but the misspelling is still egregious for a site as popular as Discogs). See @Pineapple Records’ #64 and then my followup post in that album’s topic regarding the bass credits.
I was on topic at some point in this post…I think it’s time for me to back away from the keyboard for awhile 😉

Thanks Matt — I agree with you about orthography. It’s especially egregious when the misspeller otherwise affects to be intellectual and learned in philosophy or history, or whatever. I may check out some more Boz Scaggs one of these days…

I’ve always enjoyed ‘Lido Shuffle’ and ‘Lowdown’. I didn’t know much else by him until I heard ‘Loan Me A Dime’ on the Duane Allman An Anthology album. It’s a very bluesy number that starts out slow and gradually picks up steam. His soulful vocal, the organ, the horns and Duane Allman on lead guitar – I love it.
