I don’t know why, but this,

Moving along in our God given ways, safety is sat by the fire/Sanctuary from these feverish smiles, left with a mark on the door.

Oh my God – I was singing that song to myself a few days ago and almost posted it.

Like you, I had no idea why it popped into my head. Strange.

To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

For reasons not completely clear to me, my current obsessions are “And Your Bird Can Sing ” “Drive My Car ” the entire “Sgt Peppers” album. These things change over time. For the entirely explicable reason that I love to sing along to them, “In My Life ” “This Boy ” “I Need You ” “It’s Only Love ” “If I Needed Someone ” “Paperback Writer ” “We Can Work It Out ” “Penny Lane ” “Your Mother Should Know ” and many, many more.

Watch out now, take care, beware of thoughts that linger, winding up inside your head, the hopelessness around you, in the dead of night, beware of sadness, it can hit you, it can hurt you, make you sore, and what is more, that is not what you are here for.

I can relate to the And Your Bird Can Sing obsession; I was just listening to Revolver the other day and had it on repeat a few times.

Nice list too, though while I like Paperback Writer it somehow never gets near the top of any of my lists.

I watched Magical Mystery Tour for the first time last Friday and loved the Beatles walking down the steps to the strains of Your Mother Should Know .

Did you notice that they are miming to the acetate and not the released version; John is doing “ooh, ooh” not “your mother should… know”. ‘ve seen MMT a handful of times and only noticed that the last time of viewing.

I bought Imagine , How?,  and Another Day past Sunday, and since then, I’ve had the latter two stuck in my head.

And if you saw my love, I'll love her to.

Been listening to an all Female artist compilation (mostly 60’s but a few tracks from the 50’s & 60’s) which has some fantastic songs, two of which have captivated me.

The first is Something Here In My Heart by the Paper Dolls

The other is Captain Of Your Ship by Reparata and the Delrons (great name), which when reading the wiki entry has this Beatles connection:

[Kenny] Young said of this period: “I accompanied them (Reparata and the Delrons) to Top of the Pops…[and]…attended the reception for their hit single ‘Captain of Your Ship’, along with John Lennon  and Ringo at the Revolution Club in London. I met half the Beatles at our own reception…”

Those pesky Beatles are impossible to get away from.a-hard-days-night-john-6

I almost hate to mention this, but I have You Know My Name stuck in my head – I am just up to the 2nd CD of the 2nd Anthology in my catch-up.

Do you not like it normally, trcanberra?

How you liking A2, any thoughts about it?

I hadn’t heard it much before to be honest, it doesn’t seem the sort of number that I would usually like a lot – but it’s still stuck in the old noggin.

On A2, I liked the first disc, the 2nd not so much – it was not as revelatory for me as the first 3 (no new songs, no live performances I hadn’t heard before etc.).  It also had a lot of random song constructions from various takes – I was thinking of your comments on this in other posts while listening.  It seemed to me they were constructing ‘new’ versions of songs for the sake of it, and they weren’t that different to existing versions anyway – though one or two of the guide or demo vocals were quite nice to listen to.  For me, the least essential of the 4 CDs in the set I have listened to so far.

I’ve been listening to a lot of Fleet Foxes lately. No clue why.

Ooh Fleet Foxes! I love them. Have been listening to them a lot more recently as well. I don’t know, during the summer I don’t listen that much to them, I just find it a bit more winter-ish.

Right now, it’s Norweigan Wood. And In My Life . I’ve pretty much been listening to those two for the past day.

Is Rumours work a listen? I can get it from the library but know so little about the band i’ve never got to getting it out. Is it worth the 85p rental charge?
