The bbc reports that the legendary unreleased unfinished 1966 Beach Boys Smile recordings will be released on 31st October 2011. There will also be a box set with outtakes, studio chat and song drafts. Sounds intreguing to hear what they were doing that was going to be 'rival' Pepper.

Wow, now all of us Beach Boys fans can give ourselves nervous breakdowns just like Brian did, trying to assemble the “definitive” version of SMilE from a box full of tapes, outtakes, etc.!

I'd love to hear the sessions but the 5 box set costs something like £60 to download, far too much for curiosity.
