Sad to hear of the death of Fleetwood Mac’s co-lead vocalist and keyboard player Christine McVie today, aged 79.
On behalf of Christine McVie’s family, it is with a heavy heart we are informing you of Christine’s death.
She passed away peacefully at hospital this morning, Wednesday, November 30th 2022, following a short illness.
She was in the company of her family.
We kindly ask that you respect the family’s privacy at this extremely painful time and we would like everyone to keep Christine in their hearts and remember the life of an incredible human being, and revered musician who was loved universally. RIP Christine McVie.
First drawing attention singing with Spencer Davis and then as keyboard player and backing and co-lead vocalist of British blues band Chicken Shack. With her on vocals they recorded one of the definitive versions of blues standard I’d Rather Go Blind, their biggest hit.
Marrying Fleetwood Mac’s bassist John McVie in 1969, she first worked with the band as a session musician on the Peter Green tracks on their second album, before becoming a full member in 1970. She wrote some of the band’s biggest hits including Little Lies, Everywhere, Don’t Stop, Say You Love Me, and Songbird. Another of those bands, like Abba, whose disintegrating romantic relationships were charted on records, most notably on Rumours.
A great songwriter, vocalist and pianist, she will be sadly missed.
And Ma’am…
RIP Christine Anne McVie (née Perfect) (12 July 1943 – 30 November 2022)

I was truly shocked and saddened to hear of this. I have, in the past, often been wont to make snarkastic comments about how schmaltzy Christine’s songwriting contributions are when I’m driving around listening to Rumours in my car, but I am truly affectionate toward and appreciative of her musical contributions. Her vocal harmonies with Lindsey Buckingham were absolutely magical (it’s always particularly sad when one half of a really special harmony duo is gone – like David Gilmour and Rick Wright from Pink Floyd), and her keyboard playing was always rock solid.
I know I grew up hearing “Don’t Stop” and “Say You Love Me” and “You Make Loving Fun” on the radio, but I think the first song of hers that I consciously listened to properly on my own was “Songbird”, which I’ve impulsively covered in her memory. My top favorite of her Fleetwood songs is probably “Hold Me” from Mirage (although, to be fair, that’s mostly due to Lindsey’s masterful arrangement and production, and the rich vocal harmonies), or “Over And Over” from Tusk.
Rest in peace, Songbird

Sad to hear of the death of actress Kirstie Alley from an unspecified cancer at the age of 71.
Her death was announced on her social media by her children…
To all our friends, far and wide around the world…
We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered.
She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead. As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother.
We are grateful to the incredible team of doctors and nurses at the Moffitt Cancer Center for their care.
Our mother’s zest and passion for life, her children, grandchildren and her many animals, not to mention her eternal joy of creating, were unparalleled and leave us inspired to live life to the fullest just as she did.
We thank you for your love and prayers and ask that you respect our privacy at this difficult time.
With love always,
True and Lillie Parker
Most famous for her role as Rebecca Howe in the sitcom Cheers, she also appeared in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn, the Look Who’s Talking film franchise, and the sitcom Veronica’s Closet, alongside much else.
And Ma’am…
RIP Kirstie Louise Alley (12 January 1951 – 5 December 2022)

He passed on the 29th, but I just found out today about Ian Tyson. Super gutted, but at least he had a good run at 89 years old. Absolutely love his work with Sylvia (Lovin’ Sound and Nashville are my favourite albums of theirs as well as two of my all time favourites, but the self-titled release by their Great Speckled Bird band is also worth a mention) and just began exploring his solo output not too long ago as well which is an interesting musical education on cowboy culture. Kinda sad he seems to be barely known at all outside of Canada and America, but from an English fan, may he rest in peace.

Nancy and I are so saddened by the news of her dear cousin Barbara Walters’ passing. The two of them enjoyed a deep loving relationship over many years and I was proud to share some of those special moments. Barbara was an amazing woman who more than held her own in the early days of male-dominated television and went on to become a worldwide celebrity known for her many perceptive interviews with stars from every walk of life. We will miss her but always remember her with great fondness. Xx

Though there’s only a couple of sources so far, it’s being said that Ted “Kingsize” Taylor, a giant of the Merseybeat scene (literally, 6 foot 5), has passed away aged 83.
(Guess which one is Ted!)
While they were never really commercially successful outside of Germany, Kingsize Taylor & The Dominoes were one of the stalwarts of the Merseybeat scene, with The Dominoes forming in 1957 out of the ashes of the skiffle band The Sinners (following a similar route to John, Paul and George as they moved from being The Quarrymen toward Beatles with an A), with Ted Taylor joining them in 1958.
Cilla White (aka Black) often performed with them from 1960 onwards, while Ringo was invited to become their drummer at around the same time as The Beatles asked him, but Taylor’s biggest role in The Beatles story was giving us the only freely circulating recordings of the group before fame really hit with the Star Club tapes, whose sound has greatly improved since their initial release in 1977, with rumours that Peter Jackson wouldn’t mind doing something with them using his audio AI.
Here’s Ted talking about the Star Club tapes (the beginning sound is messy but it improves):
RIP Edward William Taylor (12 November 1939-December 2022?)

On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck’s passing. After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he peacefully passed away yesterday. His family asks for privacy while they process this tremendous loss.
At the age of 78, his is a sad loss. Rock guitar would not be the same without him.

Pattie had accidentally announced his death on the day of (I imagine a friend told her and she just posted it on her Facebook), she took it down after people freaked out that he was dead, saying she was sorry it was just fake news or whatever, but nope he actually was dead. She’s since taken down the post.

Dunno if you’ve seen this Yardbirds clip before, BB, from Michelangelo Antonioni’s 1966 film “Blow Up”; he wanted but was unable to get The Who. I think only four Yardbirds tracks were recorded with the short-lived Page/Beck lineup before Jeff left the band; this is one.
